Friday Night Smackdown – Nov 24th 2023: Results & Review

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s episode!

Match #1: Finn Bálor & Damian Priest def. The Street Profits

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The Judgment Day’s reign of terror continues as Finn Bálor and Damian Priest retained the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships by defeating The Street Profits. Ford and Dawkins fought valiantly and at one point looked poised to dethrone the champions, but Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley came through for her Judgment Day teammates by distracting the officials, allowing Bálor and Priest to secure the victory.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #2: Kevin Owens & LA Knight def. Grayson Waller & Austin Theory

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Kevin Owens and LA Knight interrupted “The Grayson Waller Effect” and turned it into an electrifying tag team win by defeating A-Town Down Under. When the action broke down, Owens delivered a devastating Stunner to Waller and The Megastar hit a BFT on Theory to pick up the win in front of the raucous crowd.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #3: Pretty Deadly def. The Brawling Brutes

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Butch was ready for Fight Night, but Ridge Holland wasn’t as he left his Brawling Brute teammate alone to face Pretty Deadly. Kit Wilson and Elton Prince put down the frenzied Butch because, despite his best effort, he couldn’t overcome the two-on-one disadvantage.

My Score: 1.5 out of 5

Match #4: Bayley & Asuka def. Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair are still not on the same page ahead of Survivor Series: WarGames, and it was evident during their tag team match against Damage CTRL. Lynch nearly had the match won with a Man-handle Slam, but Flair inadvertently speared Asuka onto The Man, and as the two Superstars disagreed with each other, Bayley capitalized by rolling up Lynch to earn the win.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2.5/5

A decidedly average go-home show for Smackdown, one that felt like it was replaying matches we’ve had plenty of times before – which meant there was zero excitement for this week’s episode. As I’ve said before, the Judgement Day stuff is getting tired, as is the LA Knight/Austin Theory/Grayson Waller “feud.” It looks like the Brawling Brutes are done and honestly, it’s about time “Butch” got to go it alone again. The only real build towards Survivor Series was the main event and thankfully, despite featuring the long-running “former Four Horsewomen” angle, it at least added something extra to the forthcoming WarGames match!
