‘WWE Raw’ Review (Nov 7th 2022)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly, which follows a successful (and good) pay-per-view, Crown Jewel. So let’s see what went down this week!

Match #1: The Bloodline def. Matt Riddle & The New Day

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Just five days before their history-making clash, The New Day and The Usos clashed but with Matt Riddle and Solo Sikoa joining each respective team. The Original Bro paired well with The New Day, delivering tandem offense that wowed the crowd. Sikoa, however, dismantled Kingston on the announce table. Riddle took down The Bloodline with ripcord knees, penalty kicks and Brotons. The down-to-the-wire bout concluded with Riddle nailing an RKO before Sikoa dispatched Riddle with the Spinning Solo.

My Score: 4 out of 5

Match #2: Baron Corbin def. Cedric Alexander

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The current “Wrestling God” had another tough test on his way to the top as he faced off against Cedric Alexander. Corbin was impressive from the get-go, lighting up Alexander with a wicked clothesline that sent Alexander to the next stratosphere. Alexander showed he could bring the fight however, knocking Corbin with a Neuralyzer. Corbin, however, caught him with an End of Days to win the contest.

My Score: 1 out of 5

Match #3: Otis def. Elias

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After Elias placed a pumpkin on Otis’ head last week, which led to Otis losing against Matt Riddle, The Tree Trunk was out for retribution. Elias attempted to showcase his strength, trying to lift the brutish Otis, but could not seal the deal, as Otis landed on Elias. Chad Gable distracted Elias long enough so Otis could hit the World’s Strongest Slam to silence the musical Superstar.

My Score: 1 out of 5

Match #4: Austin Theory def. Shelton Benjamin

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Shelton Benjamin threw down the challenge earlier in the evening after Mr. Money in the Bank mocked Benjamin’s recent lack of wins. Benjamin put up a fierce fight, but Theory took him out with an eye rake followed by the A-Town Down.

My Score: 1 out of 5

Match #5: The Miz def. Johnny Gargano

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The A-Lister was irate after being once again humiliated by Johnny Wrestling. The two Cleveland natives went back-and-forth in an impressive contest. Johnny Wrestling nearly won the match after a through-the-ropes Spear. In the closing stages, The Miz craftily went under the ring to retrieve a part of a turnbuckle to blast Gargano in the face when the referee wasn’t looking. With Gargano laid out, The Miz hooked for the cover and won the match. After the match, Dexter Lumis once again whacked The Miz with a steel chair.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #6: 24/7 Championship Match – Nikki Cross def. Dana Brooke

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

With WarGames only weeks away, Nikki Cross let out some aggression on 24/7 Champion Dana Brooke. Cross looked completely different from a few months ago and unleashed a new attitude to dispatch Brooke, winning the 24/7 Championship. Cross, however, discarded the title in the backstage area.

My Score: 1 out of 5

Match #7: United States Championship Match – Seth Rollins def. Austin Theory

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Before Mustafa Ali could take up Seth “Freakin” Rollins in an Open Challenge, Bobby Lashley took out Ali, then accepted Rollins’ Open Challenge. Lashley then brutalized The Visionary, planting him through the table before the bell. Austin Theory then came down to the ring and cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Rollins! Theory hit a Pedigree but could not put away the champion. Rollins fought back, hitting a powerbomb and an elbow strike. However, Rollins succumbed to the A-Town Down. As Theory was about to capture his second U.S. Title, The All Mighty took the referee out of the ring and brutalized Theory as well. Lashley locked Theory in the Hurt Lock to leave him laying. As Theory got back inside the ring, Rollins hit the Stomp to retain the U.S. Title!

My Score: 2 out of 5

News of the Night:

  1. Mia Yim returned to WWE, backing up The OC.
  2. Nikki Cross dumped the 24/7 title in the bin after her match.
  3. Austin Theory cashed in Money in the Bank contract.

Final Verdict: 2.5/5

A great opening match set the scene for what was to come… more quality wrestling from the WWE. Actually, no… Instead we got a show that floundered miserably. Only the return of Mia Yim and the trashing of the much-maligned 24/7 trophy raised this one above the utter doldrums.
