‘WWE Smackdown’ Review (Sep 19th 2025)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss def. Chelsea Green & Alba Fyre

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Charlotte Flair stopped a 2-on-1 assault on Alexa Bliss by Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre. The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions then executed a double Natural Selection that allowed The Queen to pin Green for the successful title defense.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #2: Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed def. Fraxiom

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Returning from injury, Paul Heyman watched as Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker attacked Fraxiom in order send a message to The Usos one night before the tandems collide at Wrestlepalooza. Axiom and Nathan Frazer regrouped and knocked their attackers out of the ring, promoting SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis to make an impromptu tag team match. In the final moments, Reed threw Axiom off the ropes and into a devastating Spear from Breakker. “The Tribal Thief” then hit the Tsunami on Frazer for the win.

My Score: 0 out of 5

Match #3: United States Championship Open Challenge – Sami Zayn def. Carmelo Hayes

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Sami Zayn hit the Blue Thunder Bomb on Carmelo Hayes to reign supreme in his third United States Championship Open Challenge.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2.5/5

Well this felt like a total waste of time… With three matches on a two-hour show, it was obvious that this was just filler to get the company to Wrestlepalooza on ESPN. If they didn’t have a contract to fulfill I’m sure they would’ve loved to skip this one! Hell, we even got two title matches and neither felt important – though it is always good to see Sami get the win AND be in the main event! Totally skippable stuff IMHO.
