‘WWE NXT’ Review (Jul 29th 2025)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of NXT, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Jaida Parker def. Jazmyn Nyx

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

NXT Women’s Champion and TNA Knockouts Champion Jacy Jayne was put on notice as Jaida Parker defeated the champion’s Fatal Influence teammate, Jazmyn Nyx. Nyx showed off her swift feet, but it wasn’t enough to pierce the powerful Parker. After hitting the Silencer on Nyx, Parker lined her up for a picture-perfect Hipnotic to win the match in front of Jayne.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #2: Tavion Heights def. Charlie Dempsey

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Tavion Heights won his freedom from the No Quarter Catch Crew by defeating Charlie Dempsey in a hotly contested match. Dempsey targeted the limbs of Heights, injuring his training partner to the point where Wren Sinclair nearly threw in the towel. Heights fought through the pain and hit a thunderous Belly-to-Belly Suplex to win the match and become a singles Superstar.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #3: Fallon Henley def. Lash Legend

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The matchup between Lash Legend and Fallon Henley was shockingly interrupted by SmackDown Superstar Nia Jax. Legend fought on the outside with Jazmyn Nyx and NXT Women’s Champion and TNA Knockouts Champion Jacy Jayne, and that’s when The Irresistible Force appeared and laid out Legend. She tossed her in the ring and allowed Henley to a match-ending Famouser, but Jax continued her assault with a brutal Annihilator.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #4: Je’Von Evans def. Wes Lee

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The Young OG continues to stack up wins, this time defeating veteran Wes Lee. A visibly angry Je’Von Evans started strong with a huge dive to the outside, but Lee slowed the pace and kept Evans grounded on the mat. When it seemed like Evans would regain momentum, Tyriek Igwe and Tyson Dupont of High Ryze ran interference to keep Lee afloat. Both Superstars dug deep, and after a remarkable Coast-to-Coast Senton, Evans hit a stunning Flying Cutter to win the match as the NXT Universe gave both Superstars a standing ovation.

My Score: 4 out of 5

Match #5: NXT North American Championship – Ethan Page def. Santino Marella

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella came up short in his quest to become NXT North American Champion as Ethan Page walked out of NXT still champion. Marella turned back the clock and had the NXT Universe believing in him. With the title in sight, Marella lined up the cobra, but because it was technically a foreign object, the referee was forced to stop him. With the referee distracted, Page poked Marella in the eye and hit a Twisted Grin to retain his title.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3/5

This week’s show saw Jaida Parker continue to build her reputation with a dominant showing against Jazmyn Nyx, brushing off outside interference and ending things with a knockout blow. Tavion Heights put on a standout performance in a gritty match with Charlie Dempsey, using power and persistence to secure an impressive win that clearly elevated his singles stock. Over in the women’s division, Fallon Henley picked up a win against Lash Legend, thanks in large part to the surprise reappearance of Nia Jax, whose interference created shockwaves. That unexpected twist added some much-needed drama and excitement to a storyline that had been losing momentum. The standout match of the night came when Je’Von Evans and Wes Lee tore the house down with a high-speed, back-and-forth clash. Full of jaw-dropping counters and explosive spots, the match ended with a massive ovation from the crowd, and Evans walking away with a hard-fought victory. In the main event, Ethan Page defended his North American Championship against the returning Santino Marella. Despite some nostalgic antics and surprising offence from Marella, Page retained his title with underhanded tactics, cementing himself as one of NXT’s most detestable champions.
