by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of TNA Wrestling, Let’s get straight into the review and see what went down on this week’s show…

Match #1: Frankie Kazarian def. Elijah

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

TNA World Champion Joe Hendry joined Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt on commentary for the opening contest: Elijah vs. Call Your Shot Gauntlet Winner Frankie Kazarian! Hendry was confronted by Kazarian at ringside as Kazarian shoved Hendry into Elijah. Back in the ring, Kazarian rolled up Elijah to win!

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #2: NXT’s Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson def. Spitfire (Dani Luna & Jody Threat)

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

TNA and NXT liaison Arianna Grace joined the commentary team as Spitfire battled NXT’s Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson! Both teams have their sights set on the Knockouts World Tag Team Titles. The action was back and forth! Threat was tagged in and brought the fight to both of her opponents simultaneously. Jackson wiped out Luna with a dive to the outside. Legend inadvertently struck her own partner but they recovered! Legend and Jackson put Threat away with the MKO to win.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #3: The Hardys (Matt & Jeff) def. The Great Hands (John Skyler & Jason Hotch)

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

As an ally of The Great Hands, Tasha Steelz was on commentary for this match. The Great Hands tried to bend the rules but it wasn’t enough! The Hardys fed off the roar of the crowd to stay in control. Jeff soared with the Swanton Bomb to score the pinfall on Skyler!

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #4: Tessa Blanchard, NXT’s Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx def. Masha Slamovich, Xia Brookside & Léi Yǐng Lee

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

NXT’s Fatal Influence crossed the line in full force and a star-studded 6-Knockout tag team match unfolded! Slamovich and Blanchard immediately went on the offensive. The match broke down as everyone got involved. Rosemary was seen watching on from the crowd! The action continued to be fast and furious as Slamovich brought the fight to Fatal Influence. Blanchard took out Slamovich with a cutter! Fallon Henley distracted Slamovich, preventing the Requiem on Jayne. Blanchard put Slamovich away with the Buzzsaw DDT!

My Score: 3 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3/5

This week’s episode of TNA felt a little more contrived than usual – mainly because there was a LOT of time spent building matches and feuds for the company’s upcoming PPVs. The Joe Hendry injury angle was interesting – playing it off as an accident to then later have not one, but TWO, wrestlers want to challenge for the title… One of them being a returning Ethan Page! They also introduced a random character, Santana’s friend Derek, but it actually played a big role in building up the Mustafa Ali vs. Santana feud and Ali went full-on heel in those segments. The big news of the night was the scrapping of the Digital Media title, changing it to the TNA International Championship – which makes sense given that the digital stuff TNA were doing has gone by the by for the most part. That announcement did mean we got a lot of segments announcing participants in the title tournament but I can forgive that and I’m really hoping it establishes itself as a strong midcard title for the brand.
