‘WWE Smackdown’ Review (Mar 7th 2025)

Match #1: Tiffany Stratton def. Piper Niven

It was Tiffy Time in Philadelphia as WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton picked up another win, this time over Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green’s Secret Her-vice, Piper Niven. Niven gave the champion a strong fight, but a Prettiest Moonsault Ever gave Stratton a win. However, Charlotte Flair attacked Stratton after the match and locked her in the Figure 8.

Match #2: Pretty Deadly def. Motor City Machine Guns, and Los Garza

YES BOY! Pretty Deadly are officially the No. 1 Contender to the WWE Tag Team Title as they knocked off Motor City Machine Guns and Los Garza in a Triple Threat Match. Angel and Berto became neutralized, and it seemed like Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin were going for Skull and Bones, but Kit Wilson shoved Shelley off the rope, allowing Elton Prince to execute a perfect backslide on Sabin to score the win.

Match #3: Braun Strowman vs. Solo Sikoa (No Contest)

Braun Strowman and Solo Sikoa’s match caused so much chaos that the referee was forced to declare it a No Contest. The Monster of All Monsters seemingly had the match won, but Tama Tonga attacked Strowman and forced the officials hand.

Match #4: Women’s United States Championship Street Fight – Chelsea Green def. Michin

Chelsea Green is still the Women’s United States Champion and it’s all thanks to Alba Fyre. Both Green and Michin pulled out all the stops with weapons like steel chairs, kendo sticks, chains and tables scattered around the ring. Michin planted Green through a table with a huge Flying Senton, but Fyre pulled the champion out of the ring and hit the challenger with a Canadian Destroyer to allow Green to retain her title.

Match #5: Drew McIntyre def. Jimmy Uso

Drew McIntyre and Jimmy Uso went to war once again, and this time The Scottish Warrior walked away on top thanks to a Claymore after a failed Uso Splash. As McIntyre celebrated his win, Damien Priest exacted some payback on The Scottish Warrior for his sneak attack earlier in the night.

Match #6: United States Championship – LA Knight def. Shinsuke Nakamura

Friday Night SmackDown has a new United States Champion as LA Knight regained his title from Shinsuke Nakamura in epic fashion. The champion looked strong, laying several traps for the challenger, but Knight persevered every time, including when a steel chair was introduced. Nakamura accidentally misted the official, allowing Knight to hit a BFT on a strategically placed steel chair to become a two-time United States Champion.

Final Verdict: 2.5/5
Apart from the main event, none of the matches in this week’s show felt like they had any real effort applied (of course outside of the actual physical effort of wrestling), so much so that the promos from Naomi/Bianca and Cody were more interesting than most of the matches! At least we got a good main event to send the audience out on a high – though the title itself doesn’t really feel that important anymore, unfortunately.
