‘WWE NXT’ Review (Feb 25th 2025)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of NXT, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: NXT Women’s North American Championship – Stephanie Vaquer def. Karmen Petrovic

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Stephanie Vaquer is still the Women’s North American Champion, but Karmen Petrovic was more than game in the most impressive showing in her young career. A noticeably more aggressive Petrovic had the champion stunned on several occasions, but a well-timed Dragon Screw from the top rope and a subsequent SVB gave the champion the win. As Vaquer celebrated in the ring, NXT Women’s Champion Giulia arrived on the scene and challenged her longtime friend to a Title vs. Title Match at a future date.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #2: TNA’s Moose def. Lexis King

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

It may have been a homecoming for Lexis King, but the night belonged to the TNA X-Divisions Champion, Moose. The Cincinnati native King showed out for the NXT Universe by enduring a bevy of unbelievable blows, including a scintillating dropkick that knocked the current Heritage Cup Champion off the top rope. As King looked for any opening he could, Moose nailed a rib-cracking Spear to end the bout for good.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #3: TNA’s The Hardy Boyz def. No Quarter Catch Crew

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Myles Borne and Tavion Heights battled valiantly, but in the end they were no match for arguably the greatest tag team in WWE history, Matt and Jeff Hardy, The Hardy Boyz. When the dust settled, NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazer and Axiom entered the ring, only for TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella to announce that the Hardy Boyz will defend the TNA Tag Team Title against Fraxiom at Roadblock.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #4: Lola Vice def. Arianna Grace

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Lola Vice was in a fighting mood and got her wish with a match against Arianna Grace. The Beauty Queen was surprisingly up for the action as she got in a couple of stiff jabs, but Vice cracked her with a huge Spinning Backfist to win the match.

My Score: 0 out of 5

Match #5: Ricky Saints & Je’Von Evans def. Wes Lee & Ethan Page

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Ricky Saints is officially in NXT and also in the win column as he picked up the pinfall win in tag team action. A furious Je’Von Evans was determined to go at Ethan Page and it led to the two bitter rivals brawling through the crowd and away from the action in the ring. With it basically a one-on-one match, Saints hit a perfect Rochambeau to win the bout and leave with his first win.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3/5

Apart from the squash match, this week’s NXT delivered solid action across the board. Matches that meant something and matches that leaned into the build to the forthcoming PLE, Roadblock. Of course the big news was Ricky “Saints” in his first televised match for NXT and, much like they did with another former AEW star in Penta, they made him look like a million dollars. I feel like ANY wrestler that crosses the line from AEW to WWE will probably be treated the same way – pushed to the moon and given a huge spotlight; it’s like WWE is trying to say “anything you can do, we can do better!” We’ll see where these ex-AEW stars are in WWE in a year…
