‘WWE Smackdown’ Review (Nov 8th 2024)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show…

Match #1: Bayley def. Candice LeRae

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Looking to get back to her winning ways, Bayley took on the surging Candice LeRae. Bayley tried getting the win with the top-rope elbow drop, but LeRae wisely rolled out of the way. After The Role Model chased The Poison Pixie around the ring, LeRae feigned an injury, but Bayley rolled up LeRae for the pinfall.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #2: #DIY def. Pretty Deadly

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Tommaso Ciampa jumped on Pretty Deadly from the opening bell, launching Kit Wilson into the ring post and repeatedly slamming Elton Prince on the announce table. Ciampa went on a rampage, refusing to tag in Johnny Gargano and hitting Prince with the Fairytale Ending to win the match.

My Score: 0 out of 5

Match #3: Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill def. Nia Jax & Tiffany Stratton

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Looking to get into the good graces of Nia Jax in a non-title match, Candice LeRae interfered by shoving Bianca Belair from the top rope. Unfortunately for The Poison Pixie, Naomi quelled LeRae’s interference. Back in the ring, Belair planted Stratton with a decisive K.O.D.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #4: Motor City Machine Guns def. A-Town Down Under

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

WWE Tag Team Champions Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley took on Grayson Waller and Austin Theory as they continued to work their way through the SmackDown tag team division. The Motor City Machine Guns looked good until Shelley appeared to tweak his knee, allowing A-Town Down Under to take control. Waller and Theory thought they had defeated the champions after a rolling flatliner from Waller to Sabin, but Sabin kept fighting. After some frenetic action, Shelley and Sabin hit Skull & Bones on Waller to remain undefeated in WWE.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2/5

Another mundane episode of Smackdown this week, making it at least two weeks in a row! And on top of that one match out of the four was a friggin’ squash! This week’s show was marked by an audience that didn’t seem to be enjoying the show – which really, for me, detracted from the action. I’ve seen mention that the main event seemingly suffered the most from this and I have to agree. But then I’m sure it’s hard to get excited by a mundane show.
