‘TNA Wrestling’ Review (Oct 17th 2024)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of TNA Wrestling, Let’s get straight into the review and see what went down on the show…

Match #1: Digital Media & International Heavyweight Wrestling Championship – PCO def. Rhino

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

Before they meet in Monsters Ball at Bound For Glory, PCO and Matt Cardona select each other’s opponents in Pick Your Poison. Up first, Cardona has selected Rhino as PCO’s opponent. This match is for both the Digital Media and International Heavyweight Wrestling Championships, and will be contested with no disqualifications. It’s a wall-to-wall brawl as a plethora of weapons are introduced into the match. PCO sends Rhino crashing through a table, then soars with the PCO-Sault to win!

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #2: Ash By Elegance def. NXT’s Brinley Reece

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

NXT’s Arianna Grace introduces the next NXT superstar to cross the line into TNA Wrestling – Brinley Reece! She goes one-on-one with Ash By Elegance, who has recently started a makeover of one of TNA’s newest Knockouts, Heather Reckless. Reece is in control when The Personal Concierge provides a distraction, allowing Ash to capitalize with Rarified Air for three.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #3: X-Division Championship – Mike Bailey def. Leon Slater

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

After becoming the #1 Contender last week on iMPACT!, rising star Leon Slater challenges Mike Bailey for the X-Division Championship tonight. Both competitors take each other to the absolute limit, putting on a display of awe-inspiring offense. In the closing moments of this instant classic, Bailey hits the Tornado Kick, followed by Ultima Weapon and the Flamingo Driver to retain!

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #4: Nic Nemeth def. Matt Cardona

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

Frankie Kazarian joins Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt on commentary for tonight’s main event – a Pick Your Poison match where PCO has selected TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth as Matt Cardona’s opponent! Security surrounds the ring due to Cardona’s fear of PCO. The back-and-forth contest between longtime rivals takes a turn when PCO arrives at ringside and takes out the security guards. Nemeth capitalizes off the distraction with the Danger Zone to win!

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3/5

Another solid episode of TNA Impact this week! From start to finish each and every match delivered decent action AND storytelling. Plus, we got another NXT/TNA crossover match! Great stuff. The only downside this week, for me, was too many talking heads segments, but given that TNA are trying to really build for Bound For Glory, that can – almost – be forgiven!
