‘NXT: No Mercy 2024’ PPV Review
No Mercy is back on the WWE’s black and gold brand – a pay-per-view which started back in 1999, right here in the UK! With that being said, let’s see what went down on the second NXT: No Mercy…
Match #1: NXT Tag Team Championship – Nathan Frazer & Axiom def. Chase U
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Former NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazer and Axiom brought Andre Chase and Ridge Holland’s title reign to a screeching halt. After Axiom hit the Spanish Fly on Chase off the top rope, Frazer took to the air with the Phoenix Splash follow up to help the self-proclaimed “Fraxiom” once again claim the gold. Immediately after the bell, an enraged Holland shocked the NXT Universe when he suddenly attacked Chase U and drove Chase into the announce table.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Match #2: Zach Wentz def. Wes Lee
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
After Trey Miguel intervened to prevent Wes Lee from using a steel chair, Zach Wentz used the commotion to take charge of the match, overcoming his former friend and MSK teammate with a Canadian Destroyer.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Match #3: NXT Women’s North American Championship – Kelani Jordan def. Wendy Choo
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In an explosive back and forth title slugfest, Kelani Jordan overcame the ruthless in-ring style and twisted smile of the creepy Wendy Choo, hitting the split-legged moonsault to retain the NXT Women’s North American Championship. Moments after the match ended, the ominous Tatum Paxley suddenly emerged to put the defeated Choo to sleep and left her a dark gift that added insult to injury.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #4: NXT North American Championship – Oba Femi def. Tony D’Angelo
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
NXT North American Champion Oba Femi took sides against The Family, laying waste to the entire faction outside the ring and ultimately repelling the challenge of Tony D’Angelo with a monstrous sit-down powerbomb for the three-count.
My Score: 3 out of 5
Match #5: NXT Women’s Championship – Roxanne Perez def. Jaida Parker
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Although OTM’s Jaida Parker showed incredible resilience by battling through injured ribs, Roxanne Perez blasted her challenger with Pop Rox onto the collapsed ringside barricade. The Prodigy then hit a second Pop Rox back in the ring to pick up the huge win and continue her dominant NXT Women’s Championship reign.
My Score: 4 out of 5
Match #6: NXT Championship – Ethan Page def. Joe Hendry
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In the final moments of an absolutely chaotic NXT No Mercy main event, Special Guest Referee Trick Williams got knocked out of the ring. Although a second NXT official emerged to take over, his attempt to count the pinfall for Ethan Page was stopped by a revitalized Williams. Moments later, the second official was accidentally knocked down in the commotion. As Williams turned his attention to him, Page hit Joe Hendry with a low blow behind his back. He then followed up with Ego’s Edge to successfully defend the NXT Championship.
My Score: 3 out of 5
News of the Night:
- Guilia came out, post Women’s title match, to make her intentions known to champ Roxanne Perez
Final Verdict: 3.5/5
Let’s say it now. This PLE was better than Bash in Berlin – mainly because we got a better quality of matches AND we didn’t get any of the boredom. Plus, frankly, we got one of the best women’s matches we’ve seen from the WWE in the NXT women’s title match. Seriously. And we got the shock of the night when TNA’s Zachary Wentz BEAT Wes Lee! Who would’ve thought, that in 2924, we’d see a TNA wrestler beat an NXT wrestler on an NXT pay-per-view. And then we’d get a current TNA star, Joe Hendry, take on a former TNA star, Ethan Page, in the main event! Oh, and to top it all off… Guilia made her NXT debut! Great stuff.
