‘Friday Night Smackdown’ Review (Aug 2nd 2024)
Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Andrade def. Carmelo Hayes
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Although Carmelo Hayes attempted to use the tights during a pin attempt in the final moments of a seesaw matchup, Andrade had the presence of mind to escape and turn the tables to score a quick pin.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Match #2: Santos Escobar def. Apollo Crews
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
When Angel and Berto grabbed Baron Corbin’s feet from under the ring and beat him down, Santos Escobar used the distraction to pick up the victory over Apollo Crews with the Impact Driver.
My Score: 2 out of 5
Match #3: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill def. Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn (DQ)
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In an explosive WWE Women’s Tag Team Title Match, Blair Davenport emerged from nowhere to attack Jade Cargill at ringside for the disqualification. After the bell, Davenport, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn unleashed a post-match beatdown on Cargill and Bianca Belair.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #4: WWE Tag Team Championship – The Bloodline def. #DIY
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Although Solo Sikoa took out Tommaso Ciampa with the Samoan Spike on the apron, Johnny Gargano fired back as a one-Superstar wrecking crew. The fury of Jacob Fatu proved to be too much, however. The monstrous Superstar got right up after a devastating maneuver from Johnny Wrestling and unleashed an onslaught that ended with an Implant DDT to earn Jacob and Tama Tonga the WWE Tag Team Title. Now that the gold has returned to The Bloodline, can Solo Sikoa follow suit against Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam?
My Score: 3 out of 5
Final Verdict: 3/5
Another week, another rollercoaster episode of WWE programming. This week’s Smackdown opened pretty poorly, with far too much chatter and not enough action. But things soon picked up with the first match with Hayes and Andrade working well together (something which can’t be said of a lot of Andrade’s opponents); however the show slowed somewhat with the following matches, none of which really excited – well apart from the appearance of Blair Davenport during the women’s tag match, something that could make things interesting in the division; at least if you look at it from a UK vs. US perspective. Thankfully this episode picked up in the main event with a tag match that ended with The Bloodline standing strong, a great tease for the forthcoming match at Summerslam between Solo Sikoa and Cody Rhodes.
