‘Friday Night Smackdown’ Review (May 24th 2024)
Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Queen of the Ring Semifinals Match – Nia Jax def. Bianca Belair
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Although Bianca Belair battled through her injured knee with the heart of queen, The EST of WWE’s knee gave out when she attempted the K.O.D., clearing a path for Nia Jax to hit a Senton/Anniliator combination to pick up the victory and advance to the Finals of the Queen of the Ring Tournament against Lyra Valkyria. The winner of that match will earn the crown and a World Title Match at SummerSlam.
My Score: 2 out of 5
Match #2: LA Knight & The Street Profits def. A-Town Down Under & Carmelo Hayes
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In the height of a hard-fought Six-Man Tag Team Match, LA Knight hit B.F.T. on Grayson Waller before leaping over the announce table at Carmelo Hayes. Back in the ring, Montez Ford followed up with a frog splash off the top rope to pick up the pin for his team over one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions!
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #3: Bayley def. Chelsea Green
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Moments after Bayley’s victory over Chelsea Green with Roseplant, Piper Niven unleashed a vicious post-match attack on the WWE Women’s Champion.
My Score: 2 out of 5
Match #4: King of the Ring Tournament Semifinals Match – Randy Orton def. Tama Tonga
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
After knocking a disruptive Solo Sikoa off the ring apron, Randy Orton hit Tama Tonga with the RKO out of nowhere to pick up the victory and advance to the finals of the King of the Ring Tournament against Gunther. As the victorious Viper locked eyes with The Ring General in the front row, Solo suddenly attacked Orton from behind to launch a post-match assault. This brought Kevin Owens to the ring to make the save and send The Bloodline into retreat.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Final Verdict: 2.5/5
One hell of a comedown for Smackdown this week. The focus stayed on the wrestling on this show but said wrestling wasn’t great by any standards. The King/Queen of the Ring semi-final matches were a particular disappointment – especially when compared to previous weeks. Not a great go-home show unfortunately.
