‘WWE NXT’ Review (Nov 28th 2023)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of NXT, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down in this episode…

Match #1: NXT Tag Team Championship – Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo def. Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo gave it their best try, but Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo came out on top and retained the NXT Tag Team Titles. The challengers jumped the champions before the match even began, but one Bada Bing Bada Boom was enough for The Family to go home happy.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #2: Iron Survivor Qualifying Match – Kelani Jordan def. Kiana James

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The upstart rookie Kelani Jordan qualified for the Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline thanks to some help from a revenge-driven Roxanne Perez. James looked poised to win the match, but Perez appeared at ringside and stole the hammer James intended to use, allowing Jordan to hit a swift kick and split legged moonsault to win the match.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #3: Iron Survivor Qualifying Match – Bron Breakker def. Eddy Thorpe

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The bruising Bron Breakker punched his ticket to NXT Deadline in the most Breakker way possible: with a devastating spear. The former NXT Champion dominated Thorpe and despite the hard fought battle, a rib-cracking spear allowed Breakker to qualify for the men’s Iron Survivor Challenge Match.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #4: Ilja Dragunov def. Nathan Frazer

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov overheard some disrespectful comments from Nathan Frazer, and he took it out on him in a brutal singles match. Frazer put up a fight, but in the end two H-Bombs ended any chance of an upset in the middle of the NXT ring.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #5: Arianna Grace def. Karmen Petrovic

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Both Arianna Grace and Karmen Petrovic were looking for signature wins, but an erratic Joe Gacy appeared and stole the ring bell, shocking the two competitors. The two continued to battle and in the end it was Grace that stood tall, all while Gacy frantically rang the bell.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #6: Lexis King def. Brooks Jensen

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Newcomer Lexis King disrespected Brooks Jensen backstage and in the ring, the latter of which came by Carmelo Hayes, inadvertently. Jensen looked strong in the match, but Hayes jumped up on the apron and distracted everybody, allowing King to capitalize on the chaos.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #7: Fatal 4-Way Match – Wes Lee def. Johnny Gargano, Bronson Reed and Cameron Grimes

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Wes Lee overcame the odds and secured a championship opportunity by defeating three other former NXT North American Champions in a Fatal 4-Way Match. “Big” Bronson Reed was in a great position to win, but his Monday Night Raw opponent rival Ivar appeared and took him out, allowing Lee to his a Kardiak Kick on Cameron Grimes to earn an opportunity against “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio at NXT Deadline.

My Score: 4 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3.5/5

In terms of pure wrestling action, this week’s NXT outshone the company’s main show by the proverbial country mile. Of course, when NXT is building towards a pay-per-view they tend to focus hard on actual wrestling, and wrestling that tells stories without tons of talking, promos etc. If we could get this from the main roster… goddamn!
