‘WWE NXT: Halloween Havoc – Week Two’ Review
Welcome to this week’s review of NXT, right here on Nerdly. This is week two of the Halloween Havoc special(s), so let’s get straight into it and see what went down in this episode…
Match #1: Tables, Ladders, and Scares Match – The Creed Brothers def. Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Julius and Brutus Creed put on a show for the NXT Universe as they defeated Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo in a wacky and wild Tables, Ladders, and Scares Match. All four competitors wore the wounds of war all over their bodies, but in the end a Super Brutus Ball through two tables was enough to give The Creeds the victory.
My Score: 4 out of 5
Match #2: Tiffany Stratton vs. Fallon Henley
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Before their match could start, Tiffany Stratton blindsided Fallon Henley.
My Score: 0 out of 5
Match #3: NXT North American Championship – “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio def. Nathan Frazer
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Nathan Frazer gave it his all, but in the end the NXT North American Championship remains with “Dirty” Dom after a scintillating frog splash. After the match, Wes Lee returned to NXT to attack Mysterio and stake claim to the title that he held for a record 269 days.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #4: Bron Breakker def. Mr. Stone
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Bron Breakker destroyed Mr. Stone in a one-on-one match and capped it off with a devastating spear. However, Von Wagner appeared after the match and saved his partner from a prolonged attack.
My Score: 1 out of 5
Match #5: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – Chelsea Green & Piper Niven def. Jacy Jayne & Thea Hail
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles remain with Chelsea Green & Piper Niven after Andre Chase refused to help Jacy Jayne cheat to win the match.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #6: NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament Final – Lola Vice def. Kelani Jordan
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Lola Vice outlasted Kelani Jordan to win the 2023 NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament thanks in part to Elektra Lopez. Jordan was attempting her Split Legged Moonsault, but Lopez interfered long enough for Vice to counter and hit an impressive high kick to win the bout.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #7: NXT Championship – Ilja Dragunov def. Carmelo Hayes
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Ilja Dragunov retained the NXT Championship in the conclusion of the epic trilogy between he and Carmelo Hayes, but all the talk will be about what transpired afterwards. Trick Williams appeared and confronted Hayes, while Corbin launched a sneak attack behind the champion.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Final Verdict: 3/5
Not quite as good an episode as last week’s first half of Halloween Havoc but still, this week’s NXT was marked by a superb opening tag ladder match which was brutal and LITERALLY left its mark on the wrestlers in it. I do wonder if this is the last Creed Brothers match in the black and gold brand given their appearance (and fantastic match) on Raw earlier this week. The main event didn’t quite live up to that first match but it still delivered a decent close to this show… I just wish Hayes and Dragunov could’ve topped their matches leading up to this one, THAT would’ve made for a really amazing main event. Overall, this was OK and at least set up some new storylines and feuds (and brought some feuds back too!)
