Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s episode!
Match #1: Finn Bálor def. AJ Styles
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Damian Priest and Damian Priest of The Judgment Day got themselves removed from ringside for causing a disruption. As the official was ordering them out, Jimmy Uso suddenly emerged from nowhere and leaped up on the apron. This caused a distraction that paved the way for The Prince to roll up The Phenomenal One for the quick pin.
My Score: 2 out of 5
Match #2: The Street Profits def. Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In an impromptu tag team showdown, The Street Profits overcame The LWO’s Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde with the Revelation. Seconds after the match, Bobby Lashley joined Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford in a nefarious post-match assault on the proud Latino faction.
My Score: 0 out of 5
Match #3: LA Knight def. The Miz
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In a hard-fought rematch, the outspoken LA Knight conquered The A-Lister with an earth-shattering B.F.T. Then, as the dust cleared, Knight picked up the mic and put out a bold challenge to every champion in WWE.
My Score: 3 out of 5
Match #4: Asuka def. Bayley
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In the final moments of Bayley’s showdown against Asuka, Shotzi popped out of the crowd and spooked The Role Model. The distraction completely threw Bayley off her game and allowed The Empress of Tomorrow to hook in the backslide for the quick victory. It was an enormous win for Asuka heading into next week’s title opportunely against WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
News of the Night:
- The Rock made his return to WWE
Final Verdict: 4/5
It’s not hard to believe that this week’s Smackdown was a massive improvement over last week PLUS we got the shocking return of The Rock (well not shocking when you realise that a) his contract with Universal was up and b) he can’t make movies due to the current strikes in Hollywood). So now we have John Cena AND The Rock back in WWE – for how long we don’t know, but what we DO know is that both bring a level of excitement and interest that a lot of the current roster don’t. So at least we should have some fun TV for the next few weeks!
