Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down this week…
Match #1: Sami Zayn & Solo Sikoa def. Ricochet & Madcap Moss
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
After Solo Sikoa’s backstage attack last week, The One and Only & Madcap Moss came up short in a tag team match against The Street Champion & Sami Zayn. The dangerous Sikoa took advantage of a distraction by The Honorary Uce to fire a chair at an advancing Ricochet and hurl him into the timekeeper area. He then tagged himself into the matchup and overcame Moss with with an explosive Spinning Solo. When Moss engaged Zayn after the bell, the newest member of The Bloodline snapped and unleashed a vicious post-match assault on Madcap.
My Score: 3 out of 5

Just when Drew McIntyre was looking to defeat the outspoken Austin Theory with the Claymore Kick, The Alpha Academy suddenly interfered for a disqualification. A post-match 3-on-1 beatdown commenced and brought Johnny Gargano and eventually Kevin Owens to the ring to help The SmackDown Warrior send his adversaries heading for the hills.

Match #5: Bayley def. Shotzi
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Bayley overcame the rebellious Shotzi with the Rose Plant in the culmination of an extremely hard-fought match When she hit another Rose Plant after the match and attempted to attack with a ladder, Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair emerged to take action. Although Bayley used underhandled tactics to gain an advantage, The EST of WWE turned the tables and nearly K.O.D.’ed her adversary through the ladder.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #6: McIntyre, Owens & Gargano def. Theory & Alpha Academy
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Following an altercation earlier in the night, Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens and Johnny Gargano joined forces to triumph over Austin Theory and Alpha Academy in a Six-Man Tag Team Match. In the final moments of an out-of-control showdown, Owens and Gargano batted it out with Chad Gable and Otis outside the ring. As they did, The SmackDown Warrior hit Theory with the Claymore Kick for the huge three-count. After the match, McIntyre had Extreme intentions on his mind when he grabbed a strap and viciously unleashed payback on Theory, sending a message to Karrion Kross en route to their Strap Match at WWE Extreme Rules.
My Score: 3 out of 5
Final Verdict: 2.5/5
Another lacklustre episode of Smackdown this week but on that can be somewhat forgiven… and blamed on Hurricane Ian! This is not the only show this past weekend affected by the hurricane, however even WITH that weather front we could’ve done without the Hit Row/Los Lotharios match TBH. At least the show opened and closed strong – and the main event was certainly a crowd-pleaser!
