by Nathan Favel

Welcome to this week’s Friday Night SmackDown review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and… Colack: The Shunting begins! He arrives…A-Shunt-E! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Nathan: Ashanti! I love her! That woman can sing! Yeah! Ashanti! Colack: No! A-Shunt-E! Nathan: That’s what I said! Ashanti! Oh my God! We’ve got Ashanti! What an occasion! Let’s get this started! Ashanti! Yeah! Colack: A-Shunt-E! A…SHUNT…E! Nathan: Ashanti!

Match #1: The Street Profits def. Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode in a SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After scoring a non-title win over SmackDown Tag Team Champions over Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford several weeks ago, Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode were awarded an opportunity at the SmackDown Tag Team Titles. But in the height of the explosive showdown, Ford’s ribs were visibly hurt after he leaped off the top rope to deliver the frog splash on Ziggler. Moments later, Roberts tried to pick up the win using the tights as leverage. But, Ford countered the pin attempt with one of his own, grabbing the tights himself to successfully defend the titles for his team!

My Opinion: 3 out of 5

Match #2: The Riott Squad def. Tamina & Billie Kay

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Determined to prove she has what it took to beat Liv Morgan & Ruby Riott, Billie Kay announced Tamina as her surprise partner to battle The Riott Squad on for the second week in a row. But, when Billie Kay tagged herself into the match just as her dominating partner had things in hand, Riott & Morgan turned the tables. After blasting Tamina with a double dropkick on the apron, they combined their efforts yet again to send Billie face first into the canvas for the three-count.

My Opinion: 1.4 out of 5

Match #3: Otis def Shinsuke Nakamura

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Once again looking to prove Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro wrong in their mocking of his recent Alpha Academy training with Chad Gable, Otis battled on The Artist one-on-one. Unlike last week, however, when Gable instructed his Alpha protégé to not do his Caterpillar finishing maneuver and instead hit a suplex, the advice nearly cost Otis the matchup. Nevertheless, Otis regrouped in a hurry and crashed down on Nakamura from the second rope to secure the big win.

My Opinion: 3.1 out of 5

Match #4: (Main Event) Bayley def. Bianca Belair

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Following weeks of animosity, The Role Model battles the EST of WWE in a one-on-one showdown. But after Belair took the her accomplished opponent to the absolutely limit in an incredible contest, Bayley racked the eyes outside of the official’s view in the final moments and hit her with the Rose Plant for the victory.

My Opinion: 2.7 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3/5

This show had promos from Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens and Paul Heyman to set-up the big Universal Title match for TLC, along with Sasha Banks and Carmella doing another brawl. I wish that the matches would have gone long enough to get past first gear, but that’s what happens when you pull out of the drive-way to go to the neighbor across the street. I… Colack: Enough talk, mortal! The Shunting has…begun! A-Shunt-E: I call upon our Collective to gather for The Shunting! Prepare to shove arms in ass-hole while we eat his face and merge with his balls! The Shunting! Nathan: EWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!! I don’t want that! A-Shunt-E: Too bad! The Shunting begins! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! Nathan: NOOOOOOOOOOOO… Tom Noonan: Surprise. It’s me, Tom Noonan. Nathan: Tom Noonan? Tom Noonan: Yes, it is I…Tom Noonan. Colack: Not…Tom Noonan! A-Shunt-E: Get him! Destroy…Tom Noonan! Tom Noonan: Shunt this. (grenade chucked at pervs) A-Shunt-E/Colack/The Collective: NOOOOOO… BOOM! Nathan: Thanks Tom Noonan! Tom Noonan: I’m Tom Noonan. Nathan: Well, that worked out well. I guess the lesson here is to always have Tom Noonan on hand to save your life. Tom Noonan: I’m Tom Noonan. Nathan: Overall, this episode of SmackDown made for a good go-home show for SmackDown, mainly because of promos and that is not how wrestling gets the job done. This show needs more wrestling and better booking. Shinsuke lost to Otis. What kind of hillbilly madness is that? Well, on behalf of Tom Noonan… Tom Noonan: I’m Tom Noonan. Nathan: Thanks for reading.
