‘WWE NXT: UK’ Review (Oct 22nd 2020)

by Nathan Favel

Welcome to this week’s NXT UK review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and if you sniff a stiff stick, make sure it isn’t attached to a horny man. We’ve got the WALTER/IIja Dragunov match getting the contract signing, so here comes you-know-what…lemon Pledge!

Match #1: Eddie Dennis def. Oliver Carter

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Oliver Carter had Eddie Dennis on his heels in The Welsh Dragon’s first action since NXT UK’s relaunch, countering a Severn Bridge attempt and blasting him with a superkick. But Dennis found the mark in a big way with his second attempt, planting Carter for the victory.

My Opinion: 2.8 out of 5 – This was a fine little match that saw both guys do some nice moves and keep the action going strong, but the match was never anything big or mighty either. I could’ve gone either way with the winner, so I have no major opinion on the finish. All in all, this was alright.

Match #2: Nina Samuels def. Amale

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Nina Samuels craves the spotlight, and no one knows that fact better than Amale, as their brief partnership imploded in a previous Tag Team bout. But Samuels was the one with the last laugh, hitting The Final Act to pick up the win over The French Hope.

My Opinion: 2.8 out of 5 – This was just like the first match, but with women. Yeah, that means that there’s nothing different to say about it. Well, both ladies worked hard and made the most of their time, except that the match was decent at best. Chug! Chug! Chug!

Match #3: (Main Event) Trent Seven def. Kenny Williams – Heritage Cup First Round Match

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Trent Seven and Kenny Williams fought to a stalemate through two rounds with neither Superstar able to carve out a decisive advantage. The Don scored the bout’s first fall in Round 3 after a seven-star lariat, though Williams roared back to even the tally at 1 in Round 4. Williams appeared poised to pull off the upset in the final round when he hit a top-rope hurricanrana, but Seven masterfully rolled through with a jack-knife cover to advance.

My Opinion: 3.5 out of 5 – I was giving a guest lecture at Villa Nova when I watched this match. It was a fine affair for those kids to behold. The first kid saw a strike from Seven that made him sneeze like a whale in heat. The second kid saw Williams recover from a head-lock and he farted in the third kid’s mouth, who had gasped from seeing a tense grapple. The fourth kid got so involved with the match, she pissed herself, which caused the fifth kid to slip and fly through the window, where she crashed onto the top of the Dean’s car, which made the Dean go on a shooting spree while Williams was dominating Seven. As the match came to its thrilling conclusion, the janitor got caught in the cross-fire of the Dean, which led to the janitor screaming for someone to take care of his goldfish. As I ate the goldfish, I saw Seven jackknife Williams for the win and I thought, “I hope the Dean shoots these kids. All they’ve done since I got here is annoyed the shit out of me.” Overall, I ducked, they got iced and this match was good enough to get a bunch of college students killed, so it’s good enough for you.

News Of The Night:

  1. WALTER and Ilja Dragunov’s contract signing turned into an all-out melee.

Final Verdict: 3.2/5

This was the calm before the NXT UK Championship storm, so consider this partly cloudy.
