WWE Smackdown – June 26th: Results & Recap
Welcome to more of our expanded coverage of wrestling here on Nerdly. We’ll be presenting RAW/Smackdown/205 Live/Main Event results and recaps after each episode and we’ll have column at the end of the week where we name the best matches of the week, the worst moments of the week and the biggest news items about the company from the whole week…
So here are this week’s WWE Smackdown results for Tuesday June 26th 2018:
- Match #1: Rusev (w/Aiden English) beat Xavier Woods (w/Big E. & Kofi Kingston)
Rusev won in fun match that gives the number one contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Title some momentum.
- Match #2: Jeff Hardy vs. Eric Young (w/ Killian Dain & Alexander Wolfe) for the United States Championship – No Contest
These two were getting off to a good start when The Usos came out to brawl with SAnitY.
- Match #3: Jeff Hardy & The Usos (Jimmy and Jey) beat SAnitY (Eric Young, Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe) – Six-Man Tag Team Match
This was a match of decent length that had some good action.
- Match #4: Becky Lynch beat Sonya Deville (w/Mandy Rose) – Women’s Match
Becky Lynch is too good to be used in so brief of matches.
- Match #5: Main Event – Daniel Bryan beat Luke Harper w/ Erick Rowan
This was the best match on the show and further proof that both of these guys deserve better than what they get in the WWE. Then again, it is just great to see Bryan back.
News of the Night:
- The cast of GLOW, including Alison Brie, appeared in a backstage segment with Naomi and Lana. It’s a shame to think that the women of the GLOW show are getting more attention as female wrestlers than the actual female wrestlers in the profession.
- The slow build to a big Daniel Bryan/Miz feud is still happening, with a Miz TV segment that set up the Bryan/Harper fight, being the next step in that build.
- Kane returned and reunited with Daniel Bryan to reform Team Hell No. Paige made a Tag Team Title Match for Extreme Rules between the Bludgeon Brothers and Team Hell No. This should be a great match.
- Asuka will wrestle James Ellsworth, next week.
