10 Teen Movies you can’t buy on DVD

by Phil Wheat

I’m a huge fan of 80’s teen movies and teen movies in general – yes I may not be the target demographic, but there’s something about the genre I love, and always will love. The advent of DVD means that there’s an abundance of teen movies now available to own, including some that should probably have never seen the light of day. But despite that, there’s still some teen movies that haven’t made the transition to the shiny disc format. So here’s a rundown of my Ten Teen Movies that haven’t made it to DVD – in fact I think some of these never even made it to retail VHS!!

Overnight Delivery

After learning his girlfriend, Kim, is cheating on him, an under-grad college student, Trips, sends a breakup letter to her with a fake “used” condom and a topless picture of him and his stripper friend, Ivy. After learning he was wrong, he tries to stop the letter. He has to face a hostage situation, a psychotic delivery man, and many miles to drive to his girlfriend with Ivy. But, will he fall for Ivy instead of Kim?

Happy Together

Christopher is an ambitious college freshman, striving to become a writer. Through a computer fault he’s assigned the same room as Alex, a real party freak and… a girl! He’s annoyed and tries to get a different room as soon as possible, but when he learns to know her, he also starts to like her. She not only improves his sexual life, but also his writing skills.

Dream Machine

As a reward from a jilted millionairess, Davis is given the $100,000 Porsche of the unfaithful husband. Unknown to Davis and the wife, the body of the husband is in the Porsche. The killer tries in vein to recover the body before it is discovered. Stars Corey Haim.

Plain Clothes

To prove his brother’s innocence, undercover officer Nick enrolls in high school again, dealing with crushes, bullies, humiliations, popularity swings, and quirky teachers and staff to find the real murderer. Directed by Martha Coolidge. So rare I couldn’t even find a trailer online!!

Trojan War

Brad thinks he has found the girl of his dreams with Brooke. On the night when he thinks all his dreams will come true he runs into a problem…No condom. On his search to find a trojan he realizes that maybe it isn’t worth the trouble. Brad is robbed, beaten up, arrested and everything else imaginable trying to get just one condom. His best friend Leah is disgusted at his behavior because she wants Brad all to herself and can’t see why Brad would want someone like Brooke. Will Brad find what he wants or will Leah get what she has always wanted – Brad?

Willy Milly

Milly is annoyed whenever her mom tells her to behave more appropriate for a girl. She’s just not interested in fancy dresses or prom dances. Some day her best friend’s little brother offers her a potion which can make her deepest wish come true during a solar eclipse. She goes through with it and ends up with male genitals, additionally. So she has to decide if she wants to life as boy or girl. Her father, who always wanted a son, supports her in checking out life as a boy. Hence Milly changes school and starts out as Willy.

Double Switch

Teeny bopper rock star Bart Holton (George Newbern) is pushed around by his manager for maximum profit and longs for a normal life. He gets the chance when he meets Matt, his identical twin! Also stars Elisabeth Shue.

The Legend of Billie Jean

Average Texas teen, Billie Jean Davy (Helen Slater), is caught up in an odd fight for justice. She is usually followed and harrased around by local boys, who, one day, decide to trash her brother’s scooter for fun. The boys’ father refuses to pay them back the price of the scooter. The fight for “fair is fair” takes the teens around the state and produces an unlikely hero. Spawned the hit Pat Benetar song “Invincible”.

Rad

The story of Cru Jones, a young man who can overcome all obstacles that prevent him from participating in the BMX race “Helltrack.” As he works towards his dream, Cru falls in love with Christian, an amateur racer. With the help of Christian and her friends, can Cru’s “Rad Racing Team” defeat the top BMX factory rider, Bart Taylor?

Meatballs 3: Summer Job

14-year-old Rudy is trying desperately to lose his virginity. He spends the night with his friend Wendy (whom secretly loves him and he doesn’t realize she’s the one for him) and they watch a porno film called “E.A.T. M.E.: The Sextra-Terestrial” starring Roxanne Du Jour. When the movie is turned off, they discover on the news that Roxanne has died. Meanwhile in Heaven, Roxanne must become an angel by committing one good deed. She decides to help young Rudy lose his virginity… The last film in the Meatballs series that isn’t available in any form, the original and fourth film are available on DVD, and the second is available via Amazon VOD.

If you know of any releases of these films on DVD or Blu-ray, let me know. I’d snap them up like a shot!!
