This month on the Horror channel their Winter Chills Weekend is guaranteed to leave you frozen in fear, with the premiere of Tommy Wirkola’s fantastic horror comedy Dead Snow and the Swedish slasher movie Blood Runs Cold. Rounding out the Winter Chills weekend is The Thaw, which stars Val Kilmer as a scientist in the Arctic researching the greenhouse effect who makes a terrifying discovery.
Also showing on the Horror channel this month is World of the Dead: The Zombie Diaries 2, the sequel to one of the UK’s most successful zombie movies; the Jason Mewes starring killer-fishermen flick The Watermen; Exorcismus, from the team who brought you REC and The Devils Backbone; as well as true-life horror Henry Lee Lucas: Serial Killer, sci-fi horror Recreator and director’s night – this time featuring Jonathan Glendenning, the director of 13 Hours.

This month Horror channel will be filling your TV screens with gallons of gore as teens scream the night away in their Stalk and Slash season, featuring 4 movie premieres in double bills every Friday night in October. So get ready to be reminded of the horror rules if you want to survive the wrath of the psycho. All that plus a glut of gut wrenching premieres not to be missed over the coming weeks, including one of my personal favourites, Dark Night of the Scarecrow, Red White and Blue, Stephen King’s Riding the Bullet and Creep Van.
Plus this month sees the Horror channel debut of superb 80’s anthology series Tales From the Darkside, their Frightfest the 13th Special and the monthly directors night featuring Inbred director Alex Chandon who picks three of his favourite horror movies – Tenebrae, The Exterminator and Street Trash – for broadcast on October 25h…

September is a beastly mix of sinful Satanism, evil embryos and frightful fairytales, including the World SINema season featuring Guillermo Del Toro’s The Devils Backbone, Italian Exorcist “homage” The Antichrist, and the little-seen French horror Baby Blood. September also sees the Horror Channel premieres of Breadcrumbs and Botched; along with an eclectic mix of world horror including Link from the USA, Holocaust 2000 from Italy and Night Drive from South Africa! Plus this month see The Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard takes over the channel for Director’s Night on 27th September – with An American Werewolf in London, Hellraiser and The Stepfather…

Given that August is the month all horror fans love – at least in the UK – given that it’s the month that London’s Frightfest takes place, this month on the Horror Channal sees a special Season of Director’s Night specials with introductions by the four FrightFest supremos as the team behind FrighFest pick 6 of their favourites from the festival’s past 13 years and tell you why you should be watching them. Featuring Martyrs, Bad Biology, Romasanta: The Werewolf Hunt, Pontypool, Video Nasties (Moral Panic, Censorship and Video Tape) and Switchblade Romance this is surely one to watch this month!
Other highlights on the Horror Channel in August include two Hammer classics: Rasputin the Mad Monk and Straight on Till Morning, the David DeCoteau-directed vampire trilogy The Brotherhood and the recently released on DVD flick Carninval of Fear, aka Closed for the Season.

This month Emily takes a look at the Horror Channel’s “Evilution of Horror” season which features Vampires, Werewolves, Zombies and Slashers; talks us through this month’s channel premieres which include Pulse, Coffin, Cyborg 2 and After; and previews July’s Director’s Night, which this month features Johannes Roberts, director of the awesome F and the forthcoming Storage 24, who selects three of his favourite fright flicks – including Children of the Corn. Blood River and The Bird with the Crystal Plumage – for the Horror channel.

Also previewed in this episode of Horror Bites is June’s Director’s Night, which this month features Reg Traviss, director of Psychosis, who selects three of his favourite fright flicks for the Horror channel.
