by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of NXT, right here on Nerdly. We’ve got week one of a two-week “GOLD RUSH” special, sol et’s get straight into it and see what went down on this episode!

Match #1: AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship – Chelsea Green & Ethan Page def. Thea Hail & Joe Hendry

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

When Thea Hail locked Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green in the Kimura Lock in the height of their explosive AAA Mixed Tag Team Title Match, NXT North American Champion Ethan Page had the awareness to throw Joe Hendry into their partners to break the painful maneuver. This opened up Green to hit Hail with the Unpretty-Her to pick up the pin and allow the nefarious pair to retained the gold.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #2: NXT Women’s North American Championship – Blake Monroe def. Sol Ruca

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After Blake Monroe ripped off Sol Ruca’s leg brace and locked in an excruciating submission on her tough opponent’s still injured left knee, Zaria was left no choice but to throw in the towel to hand Monroe a successful NXT Women’s North American Championship defense.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #3: NXT Tag Team Championship – DarkState def. Je’Von Evans & Leon Slater

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

In the height of the action, Je’Von Evans accidently splashed down onto his own partner, TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater. This allowed DarkState’s Dion Lennox and Osiris Griffin to hit the Doomsday Device to vanquish their challenges and successfully defend the NXT Tag Team Titles.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #4: NXT Women’s Championship – Jacy Jayne def. Tatum Paxley

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After Izzi Dame and The Culling betrayed Tatum Paxley with a shocking attack outside the ring, Jacy Jayne overcame the rocked titleholder with Rolling Encore to once again lay claim to the NXT Women’s Championship.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3.5/5

This week’s NXT was a genuinely fun outing, buoyed by strong women’s division storytelling and a main event that actually felt important. Jacy Jayne recapturing the Women’s Championship from Tatum Paxley landed with real impact, especially with Izzi Dame’s perfectly venomous heel turn adding that extra jolt of drama. It wasn’t just a title change, it fet like it set the tone for the next month of TV. The Women’s North American Championship match also impressed, with Blake Monroe and Sol Ruca turning in one of the night’s most polished performances. Their chemistry and pacing helped elevate the mid-card energy. Not everything clicked – a few backstage segments and interference spots felt like overly familiar NXT habits, but they didn’t drag the show down. Overall, this was an energetic, engaging episode that kept the momentum rolling and delivered enough standout moments to make it a worthwhile watch.
