‘TNA Wrestling’ Review (Aug 7th 2025)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of TNA Wrestling. Let’s get straight into the review and see what went down on this week’s show…

Match #1: TNA International Championship – Steve Maclin vs. Jake Something (Double Countout)

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

Maclin hits an Olympic Slam for two. Both men are down following double clotheslines in the middle of the ring. Maclin hits a SCUD to the outside. Something sends Maclin into the steel ring steps. The brawl continues on the floor as both men are counted out.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #2: Léi Yǐng Lee & Xia Brookside def. The Elegance Brand (Heather & M By Elegance)

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

Xia Brookside and Léi Yǐng Lee clash with Heather and M of The Elegance Brand! Brookside launches herself off the back of Lee to deliver an elbow drop to M. Lee clotheslines M over the top rope to the floor. M distracts the referee, allowing Heather to illegally attack Lee from the apron. The Elegance Brand is in control as they cut off the ring and wear Lee down. Lee evades The Elegance Brand to make the tag to Brookside. The pace quickens as Brookside goes on the attack. Lee hits M with an Airplane Spin into a Facebuster to win.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #3: Mara Sadè def. Vicious Vicki

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

Following her triumphant arrival two weeks ago, Mara Sadè makes her TNA Wrestling singles debut against Vicious Vicki! Sadè makes quick work of her opponent, putting her away with Finish Her.

My Score: 0 out of 5

Match #4: TNA Knockouts World Championship – Ash By Elegance def. Jacy Jayne (DQ)

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

Double champion Jacy Jayne defends her TNA Knockouts World Championship against the #1 contender, Ash By Elegance! Jayne’s allies in Fatal Influence, Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx, are banned from ringside. The match doesn’t last long before Masha Slamovich attacks Ash By Elegance out of nowhere! After the match, battle lines are drawn as a huge brawl breaks out between Fatal Influence, The Elegance Brand, The IInspiration and the trio of Masha Slamovich, Léi Yǐng Lee and Xia Brookside!

My Score: 0 out of 5

Match #5: Mustafa Ali def. Joe Hendry

The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:

Joe Hendry collides with Mustafa Ali for the first time ever in our main event! The fight spills to the outside where Hendry hits a thudding back body drop. The Great Hands provide a distraction at ringside, allowing Ali to take him out with a dive. The leader of Ali’s Secret Service, Agent 0, watches on. Hendry hits the Fallaway Slam but Ali escapes the Standing Ovation. Hendry clears out members of the Secret Service, while Ali inadvertently hits one of them with a dropkick. Hendry connects with the Standing Ovation but Tasha Steelz pulls the referee out of the ring. The Great Hands double team Hendry. Hendry counters the 450 from Ali and neutralizes The Great Hands. Hendry has Ali beat with the AA but there’s no referee. Steelz gets involved once again as Agent 0 pummels Hendry with a big boot. Ali scores the victory following the 450.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2.5/5

This week’s TNA was a mixed bag that leaned far too heavily on frustrating booking choices. With only five matches on the card, it was disappointing to see multiple “dusty finish” scenarios undercut otherwise solid in-ring work. Those screwy endings drained momentum and made the night feel like it was spinning its wheels rather than delivering decisive payoffs. And adding a completely one-sided squash match to such a short card only compounded the frustration, leaving the episode feeling like a missed opportunity despite flashes of quality. The tag bout between Léi Yǐng Lee & Xia Brookside and The Elegance Brand (Heather & M By Elegance) had good chemistry and some crisp exchanges, and was the highlight of the night for me. Meanwhile, the main event between Mustafa Ali and Joe Hendry was an engaging clash of styles, with Ali’s athletic precision meeting Hendry’s power and charisma head-on. Sadly, yet more outside interference stopped it from becoming the show-stealer it could have been. Overall, a decidedly average week for TNA.
