‘WWE Smackdown’ Review (Jul 4th 2025)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Triple Threat Tag Team Match – Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair def. The Secret Hervice and B-Fab & Michin

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair formed a tenuous alliance to take on Piper Niven and Alba Fyre of The Secret Hervice and B-Fab and Michin in a high-stakes showdown. In the final moments, Flair wiped out Niven with a Spear before tagging in Bliss via a disrespectful pat on the head. After Flair hit the moonsault, Bliss followed with Twisted Bliss on Niven and Fyre to win the match. With the victory, the unlikely tandem earned the right to face the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions in a Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match at WWE Evolution.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #2: The Wyatt Sicks def. Montez Ford, Johnny Gargano, Berto & Chris Sabin

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

WWE Tag Team Champion Montez Ford, #DIY’s Johnny Gargano, Los Garza’s Berto and Motor City Machine Guns’ Chris Sabin teamed up in an attempt to quell The Wyatt Sicks in an Eight-Man Tag Team Match. In the turbulent encounter, Sabin went for a tag to Gargano, but at the last second, Johnny Wrestling dropped off the apron and abandoned the match. This paved the way for Erick Rowan to land a match-ending Claw Slam to put The Wyatt Sicks into contention for the WWE Tag Team Title.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #3: Andrade & Rey Fenix def. Fraxiom

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

One week after defeating #DIY, Andrade and Rey Fenix once again teamed up to take on Nathan Frazer and Axiom. Axiom hit a Spanish fly on Andrade before Frazer connected with the Phoenix splash, but Fenix broke up the pinfall in the nick of time. Shortly after, Fenix took out Axiom with a wild dive to the outside, allowing Andrade to deliver The Message to Frazer and hand Fraxiom their first loss on SmackDown.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #4: Jacob Fatu & Jimmy Uso def. Solo Sikoa & JC Mateo

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Days after winning the United States Championship from Jacob Fatu in controversial fashion at WWE Night of Champions, Solo Sikoa teamed with JC Mateo to take on The Samoan Werewolf and Jimmy Uso. In the explosive final moments, Fatu gained a small amount of retribution on Sikoa by pinning the new titleholder with a moonsault from the top rope. When Fatu looked to take out Sikoa with an announce table splash after the match, however, Talla Tonga and Tonga Loa suddenly emerged to take out Fatu and Uso. Sikoa’s new group then performed an epic powerbomb on Fatu through the announce table.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2.5/5

Well, well, it turns out dropping Smackdown back to two hours does WONDERS for the finished product! Four matches on a shorter show is a lot better than the promo-filled three-hour show we were getting, which had the exact same number of matches on the card! Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton opened strong after Rhodes’s King of the Ring win, only to be ambushed by Drew McIntyre, setting up a major showdown at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The women’s division heated up as Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair claimed a triple-threat victory to earn a shot at Evolution’s tag titles. Whilst Tiffany Stratton selected Trish Stratus as her Evolution opponent. The show ended with tag-team chaos that saw Jacob Fatu and Jimmy Uso triumph over Solo Sikoa and JC Mateo, only for Sikoa’s faction to retaliate with a brutal announce-table powerbomb. Two hours is definitely the way to go for wrestling shows!
