‘WWE NXT’ Review (Jun 3rd 2025)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of NXT, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: DarkState def. Chase U

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Uriah Connors and Kale Dixon did their best to impress Andre Chase, but they bit off more than they could chew against DarkState. The early energy was there for Chase U, but the sheer power of Osiris Griffin changed the game as he took out Connors and Dixon. That opened the door for the new NXT super crew to launch Dixon with a thunderous group Powerbomb to win the bout.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #2: Rounds Match – Myles Borne def. Charlie Dempsey

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Myles Borne won his freedom from No Quarter Catch Crew by defeating Charlie Dempsey in a grueling Rounds Match. Dempsey dominated most of Round One, but Borne flipped his hips and got a fall thanks to a heads-up pinning combination. Round Two came and went, but Dempsey threw a cheap shot after the bell that affected Borne long into Round Three, which allowed Dempsey to even the score at one apiece thanks to a Regalplex. The two were evenly matched, but Borne found his way deep in Round Four with a thunderous dropkick that earned him the win and his freedom.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #3: Tyra Mae Steele def. Arianna Grace

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

LFG Season One winner Tyra Mae Steele dazzled in her NXT debut by thrashing Arianna Grace. The Olympic gold medalist shined during the entire match before hitting a picture-perfect bridge German suplex for the win.

My Score: 0 out of 5

Match #4: Je’Von Evans, Dragon Lee, Laredo Kid & Sean Legacy def. Ethan Page & The Vanity Project

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Dragon Lee made his triumphant return to NXT to help his friends in a chaotic Eight-Man Tag Team Match. Evolve’s Vanity Project consisting of Brad Baylor, Ricky Smokes and Jackson Drake felt the wrath of fellow Evolve Superstar Sean Legacy, but in the ring, All Ego laid out Laredo Kid. Just when it seemed that Vanity Project had the edge, Lee tagged in and cleaned house, and despite Baylor’s best efforts, Lee nailed Operation Dragon to give his team the win.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #5: TNA World Championship – Trick Williams def. Mike Santana

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The TNA World Title is staying in NXT as Trick Williams defeated Mike Santana in a fierce match. The champion came into the bout fired up, but Santana matched it by nearly knocking Williams out on his feet with a series of strikes. Williams attempted to walk out on the match, but Santana hit an incredible dive over the top rope to stun his opponent and keep him in the fight. The NXT Universe got on their feet as the two Superstars battled to a near stalemate, and that’s when Trick got into it with TNA’s Elijah at ringside. That distraction allowed AJ Francis and KC Navarro to attack Santana, helping Williams to score the win.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

News of the Night:

  1. Former AEW star Mariah May made her NXT debut during a huge women’s brawl over the NXT Women’s title.

Final Verdict: 2.5/5

This week’s show struggled to maintain momentum despite a few solid in-ring performances. While the talent was clearly working hard, the show felt creatively stalled. Key rivalries lacked urgency, and some segments dragged without much payoff. The women’s division had moments of spark, but they were undercut by awkward pacing and questionable booking decisions. Even the main event felt more like a formality than a climax. NXT has the tools and talent to deliver something special, this just wasn’t one of those nights.
