‘WWE NXT’ Review (Apr 29th 2025)
Welcome to this week’s review of NXT, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: NXT North American Championship – Ricky Saints def. Lexis King
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Ricky Saints continues to shine as an NXT Superstar as he defeated Lexis King to remain the NXT North American Champion. King was impressive as he used his combination of strength, agility and mat skills to keep Saints off-balance, but the NXT Universe refused to let the champion stay down. Saints rallied in a major way and after countering a Coronation, he nailed Roshambo to retain his title.
My Score: 3 out of 5
Match #2: Sol Ruca def. Karmen Petrovic
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
It may have been a non-title match, but Sol Ruca competed as if her title was on the line. Ruca’s first attempt at a Sol Snatcher was expertly countered by Petrovic, but it wasn’t long before the champion struck with that devastating move to win the match.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #3: NXT Tag Team Championship – Hank & Tank def. Josh Briggs & Yoshiki Inamura
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The NXT Tag Team Title remains with Hank & Tank after a barn-burner of a match against the team of Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura. Briggs and Inamura showed up and showed out with their near-perfect tandem offense, but Hank Walker and Tank Ledger dug deep and found a way out of every near fall. One mistake by Inamura allowed Hank & Tank to isolate and pin Briggs, delivering them their first win as NXT Tag Team Champs.
My Score: 3 out of 5
Match #4: IYO SKY & Jordynne Grace def. Roxanne Perez & Giulia
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The dream team of Women’s World Champion IYO SKY and Jordynne Grace took down Roxanne Perez and Giulia in a thrilling main event. The Beautiful Madness and The Prodigy had a lot of chemistry as a team, using underhanded tactics to compliment their incredible wrestling skills to keep The Juggernaut down. Giulia and Grace brawled their way to the outside leaving Perez and SKY in the ring, and it was The Genius of The Sky that stood tall as she hit a Moon Over Moonsault to win the match for her team.
My Score: 4 out of 5
Final Verdict: 3.5/5
NXT delivered a highly entertaining and well-paced show this week, balancing thrilling in-ring action with major storyline moves that made every segment feel important. The night kicked off with a major moment: TNA World Champion Joe Hendry’s surprise appearance. Hendry’s charisma lit up the arena, but the shocking assault by DarkState instantly set a darker, edgier tone for the episode. It’s clear NXT is pushing the boundaries of cross-promotional storytelling, and it feels genuinely exciting and unpredictable.
Ricky Saints’ North American Title defence against Lexis King was another standout. While King brought his usual flash and arrogance, Saints once again showed why he’s one of NXT’s fastest-rising stars. Their chemistry was strong, and the finish was decisive without making King look weak. Saints’ Roshambo finisher landed perfectly, wrapping up one of the cleaner, more satisfying midcard title defences in recent memory. The tag team title match between Hank & Tank and the team of Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura brought a lot of raw energy. Hank & Tank are starting to feel like the heartbeat of the division with their old-school toughness, though the match did suffer slightly from a few clunky moments. Still, it was a fun, hard-hitting fight that keeps Hank & Tank’s reign feeling meaningful.
In women’s action, Sol Ruca vs. Karmen Petrovic was short but electric. Ruca is rapidly becoming a breakout star—her athleticism and crowd connection are undeniable. Karmen showed good fire in defeat, but Ruca hitting the Sol Snatcher so crisply just highlighted how far ahead she is right now. The main event truly delivered. Pairing IYO SKY and Jordynne Grace against Roxanne Perez and Giulia was a dream scenario for fans of women’s wrestling, and it lived up to the hype. The action was fast and aggressive, with all four women getting a chance to shine. IYO SKY hitting her Moon Over Moonsault to close the show was a perfect visual—smooth, emotional, and a reminder why she remains one of the absolute best in the world.
Overall, this week’s show was a strong home run. Every major player looked good, and the seeds planted for future rivalries, especially with DarkState and Joe Hendry’s involvement, make next week feel like must-see TV.
