‘WWE NXT’ Review (Apr 22nd 2025)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of NXT, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez def. Gigi Dolin & Tatum Paxley

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez returned to NXT in epic fashion as they retained the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title in thrilling fashion. Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley had the champions on the ropes on multiple occasions, but the power of Rodriguez and the cunning ring awareness of Morgan allowed the champs to walk away unscathed.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #2: Heritage Cup Match – Noam Dar def. Lexis King

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

He’s back! Noam Dar is officially back and not only that, he’s the new Heritage Cup Champion. Supernova 11 looked like his old self, at one point going for the Nova Roller only to fake King out and hit a huge Spinning Back Elbow to win the match and become a 4 time Heritage Cup Champion.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #3: Thea Hail def. Fallon Henley

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Thea Hail continues to prove that she’s a grown woman, this time by defeating Fallon Henley thanks to an accidental assist from Jacy Jayne. Henley and Jayne were going for an illegal double team move, but Jayne kicked Henley when Hail moved, allowing the subsequent Kimura Lock to hurt even more and force the Fatal Influence Superstar to tap out.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #4: DarkState def. Je’Von Evans & Myles Borne

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Myles Borne needed a partner to face DarkState after the rest of NQCC ditched him, and The Young OG had his back. Borne and Je’Von Evans put up a good fight, but the numbers game proved to be too much and Osiris Griffin and Dion Lennox earned the win.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #5: NXT Women’s Championship – Stephanie Vaquer def. Roxanne Perez

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

La Primera proves once again that NXT belongs to her as Stephanie Vaquer successfully defended the NXT Women’s Title against Roxanne Perez. The Prodigy was attempting to become a 3 time NXT Women’s Champion and came close on several occasions, but couldn’t quite hit Pop Rox to get it done. After hitting Devil’s Kiss and breaking out of a Cross Face, Vaquer hit an SVB to win the match and solidy herself as the Superstar to beat.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3/5

This week’s episode of NXT was a well-paced, action-packed show that effectively continued the momentum from Stand & Deliver while setting the stage for exciting future developments. Headlining the night was a hard-fought NXT Women’s Championship match between Stephanie Vaquer and Roxanne Perez. Vaquer retained in a competitive bout, and the surprise post-match appearance by Giulia added major intrigue, suggesting a new high-profile rivalry on the horizon.

Noam Dar made headlines by reclaiming the NXT Heritage Cup for a record fourth time, further cementing his legacy in the division. In tag team action, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez made a successful return to NXT, defending their WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles against Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley in a lively contest that showcased the champions’ chemistry.

Elsewhere on the card, Thea Hail picked up a solid win over Fallon Henley, and the mysterious faction DarkState earned another dominant victory, building their momentum. Perhaps the most buzzworthy moment of the night was the return of TNA World Champion Joe Hendry, who confronted Oba Femi and Trick Williams, teasing potential cross-brand storylines.

Overall, this episode delivered a strong mix of wrestling and storytelling. With solid in-ring performances, surprise appearances, and teases of future feuds, NXT continues to feel fresh and unpredictable – exactly what the brand needs heading into its next chapter!
