‘WWE NXT’ Review (Apr 1st 2025)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of NXT, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Zaria def. Lash Legend

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The Australian powerhouse Zaria conquered Lash Legend to punch her ticket to Stand & Deliver where she’ll compete in a Six-Woman Ladder Match for the vacant NXT Women’s North American Championship. The two incredibly strong Superstars battled to a near stalemate when Zaria nailed a rib-cracking Spear followed up by an F5 to qualify for Stand & Deliver.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #2: No Quarter Catch Crew def. Hank Walker & Tank Ledger

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Hank and Tank continue to spiral, this time after suffering a loss to No Quarter Catch Crew. After a pep talk from Pretty Deadly just before the match, Walker and Ledger looked like their old, jovial selves, but it all backfired when they got a little too confident. They were going for one of their many signature tag team moves when they started to taunt Tavion Heights, allowing Myles Borne to enter the ring and dropkick Walker, allowing them to isolate and defeat a helpless Ledger.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #3: Kelani Jordan def. Roxanne Perez

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Kelani Jordan stunned former NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez to clinch a spot in the NXT Women’s North American Championship Ladder Match at Stand & Deliver. The two decorated Superstars traded incredible blows, with The Prodigy wrenching Jordan’s joints and wearing on her body at all times. After several disrespectful slaps, The Standout knocked Perez into perfect place for a One Of A Kind Moonsault to send her to Las Vegas for a championship opportunity.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #4: NXT North American Championship – Ricky Saints def. Shawn Spears

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The Revolution has taken its next step as Ricky Saints is the new NXT North American Champion as he dethroned Shawn Spears in epic fashion. Spears immediately targeted his challenger’s back, at one point even dropping him on the steel steps in gruesome fashion. The two Superstars found themselves perched on the top rope with Saints gaining the upper hand and hitting a massive Avalanche Jackhammer. The numbers game helped Spears as Niko Vance distracted the official, but the champion’s title belt attack wasn’t enough to win the bout. A fired-up Saints battled back in a huge way as he took out Brooks Jensen, Vance and ultimately Spears with a Roshambo to become champion.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3/5

This week’s episode of WWE NXT delivered high-stakes action and major developments leading into Stand & Deliver. One of the night’s biggest moments came when Stephanie Vaquer vacated the NXT Women’s North American Championship, paving the way for a six-woman ladder match to crown a new champion. Zaria secured her spot in the match with a hard-fought victory over Lash Legend, adding intrigue to the upcoming bout. In the men’s division, Trick Williams confronted NXT Champion Oba Femi, escalating tensions ahead of their upcoming triple threat match with Je’Von Evans. This segment highlighted the intensity brewing in the title picture and left fans eager for the clash. The main event saw Ricky Saints dethrone Shawn Spears to capture the NXT North American Championship, overcoming interference from The Culling. However, his celebration was short-lived as Ethan Page launched a post-match assault, setting the stage for a heated rivalry. Overall, this episode effectively built momentum for Stand & Deliver, with gripping storylines and strong in-ring performances making it a must-watch for NXT fans.
