‘WWE Smackdown’ Review (Mar 14th 2025)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: LA Knight, Braun Strowman & Jimmy Uso def. Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu & Tama Tonga

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

In an explosive Six-Man Tag Team Match, Braun Strowman hit all three of his opponents with the Strowman Express. Then, after LA Knight and Jimmy Uso followed up with Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu at ringside, The Monster of All Monsters picked up the win on Tama Tonga with the Running Powerslam.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #2: Charlotte Flair def. B-Fab

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After making B-Fab tap out to the Figure-Eight Legock, Royal Rumble winner Charlotte Flair refused to release the excruciating maneuver. WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton rushed to the ring to save B-Fab and spark a wild brawl with her WrestleMania challenger.

My Score: 1 out of 5

Match #3: Damian Priest def. Shinsuke Nakamura (DQ)

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Damian Priest defeated Shinsuke Nakamura by disqualification after being attacked by Drew McIntyre. What started as a post-match brawl between McIntyre and Priest soon became an absolute beatdown by The Scottish Psychopath after Nakamura hit his opponent with a surprise Kinshasa.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #4: Randy Orton def. Carmelo Hayes

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Seconds after getting hit with the Last 48 by Carmelo Hayes, Randy Orton roared back with the RKO out of nowhere to overcome his opponent. When Melo chose to blatantly disrespect The Viper after the bell by refusing his hand, Hayes quickly suffered a second RKO. Before WWE’s Apex Predator could hit the followup punt kick, however, Kevin Owens emerged to pull Hayes out of the ring and briefly brawl with Orton before escaping through the crowd.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #5: Gunther def. Axiom

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The World Heavyweight Champion decided to make an example out of hometown hero Axiom by calling out the dynamic Spanish Superstar for a match in Barcelona, Spain. Despite showing incredible heart and an explosive arsenal of offense, Axiom fell to a wicked clothesline and a pair of earth-shattering Powerbombs by The Ring General.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #6: WWE Tag Team Championship – The Street Profits def. #DIY

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After Johnny Gargano accidently took out Tommaso Ciampa with a Meeting in the Middle gone wrong, Angelo Dawkins tagged in Montez Ford, who leaped into the heavens and delivered the splash to make The Street Profits the new WWE Tag Team Champions.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2.5/5

Well that was a thing… Possibly one of the worst international episodes of Smackdown we’ve had in some time. It felt like they had no idea what matches to put on, they didn’t have enough matches to fill the full three hours, they padded EVERYTHING as much as they possibly could – including a random Paul Heyman promo – AND they randomly decided to have The Street Profits win the tag titles in the main event! At least the last two matches raised the bar for this episode. A little.
