‘WWE NXT’ Review (Feb 11th 2025)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this week’s review of NXT, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Cora Jade def. Bayley

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Cora Jade picked up the biggest win in her singles career to date as she defeated Bayley in a hotly contested matchup. The Role Model was in control, but Roxanne Perez came out donning Bayley’s iconic Hugger gear to mock her, distracting her and allowing Jade to score the win. After the match, NXT General Manager appeared and made the Women’s Title Match at Vengeance Day a Fatal 4-Way, much to the dismay of Perez.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #2: Josh Briggs & Yoshiki Inamura def. No Quarter Catch Crew and Hank Walker & Tank Ledger

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The hard-hitting Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura used their incredible power to punch their ticket to Vengeance Day. After defeating Myles Borne & Tavion Heights and Hank Walker & Tank Ledger in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match, Briggs and Inamura were granted a championship opportunity for this Saturday at Vengeance Day.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #3: Zaria def. Nikkita Lyons

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The powerhouse Zaria scored another big victory in NXT as she took down Nikkita Lyons. The Australian was taken to her limit, but a huge Spear delivered her a key victory ahead of a future tag team match with Sol Ruca against Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson.

My Score: 0 out of 5

Match #4: NXT Heritage Cup Championship – Lexis King def. JDC

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After changing all of the rules of the Heritage Cup Match, Lexis King walked out victorious by defeating JDC. The match was only one fall to a finish, and that fall came when the champion countered a top rope leg drop into a Coronation.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #5: NXT North American Championship Steel Cage Match – Tony D’Angelo def. Ridge Holland

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The North American Championship remains with The D’Angelo Family, but it came at a severe cost. Izzi Dame introduced a crowbar into the mix and despite Holland using it, Tony D’Angelo recovered and hit a huge Spinebuster to win a chaotic match. However, Dame turned around and used the crowbar on The Don herself, allowing Shawn Spears, Niko Vance and Brooks Jensen to beat the champion down and leave him in a crumpled heap.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

News of the Night:

  1. Ricky Starks made his NXT debut, popping up in the crowd before the main event.

Final Verdict: 2.5/5

This week’s show opened strong and it felt like we were going to get a show that blew away the cobwebs of last week’s episode. But this show put on the brakes after the first two matches and everything seemingly fell apart, leading to a really disappointing main event. As for that “new” Heritage Cup format, I call b*llshit. I don’t care if it’s a gimmick for the spray-painted-beard champ Lexis King, it sucks and it makes a mockery of that championship – the sooner it’s revealed King is a total tosser and someone takes that title off him and gets it back to the true challenge it has and should be, the better!
