‘TNA Wrestling’ Review (Jan 9th 2025)
Welcome to this week’s review of TNA Wrestling, Let’s get straight into the review and see what went down on this week’s show as the road to Genesis continues…

Match #1: Steve Maclin, Eric Young & Jonathan Gresham def. The System (Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers & JDC)
The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:
We kick things off with 6-man tag team action following a backstage brawl between these two teams last week! The System are in control as Brian Myers delivers a back suplex to Eric Young, followed by a cheap shot to Gresham on the apron. Young counters the Roster Cut into a Death Valley Driver to create separation, allowing him to tag in Steve Maclin. The pace quickens as Maclin brings the fight to The System. JDC is Caught in the Crosshairs as Maclin scores the pinfall victory for his team.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Match #2: Léi Yǐng Lee def. Savannah Evans
The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:
Before Savannah Evans’ scheduled matchup, she’s confronted by Xia Brookside who shows footage of Evans taking her out of action at Turning Point. Brookside may not be medically cleared to compete, but she knows someone who is: Léi Yǐng Lee! Evans was also responsible for injuring Léi Yǐng Lee, and she’s back with a vengeance. Lee soars off the top rope with a crossbody. Evans bounces back with a sit-down powerbomb for two. Lee counters the Full Nelson Bomb into Thunderstruck to win!
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #3: Mike Santana def. Judas Icarus
The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:
Mike Santana looks to take out each member of The Northern Armory tonight in a grueling gauntlet match! First up is Judas Icarus. Icarus charges into the corner, sending Santana crashing to the mat from the top rope. Moments later, Santana connects with Spin the Block to score his first victory.
My Score: 3 out of 5
Match #4: Mike Santana def. Travis Williams
The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:
Travis Williams enters the gauntlet next. Williams targets the damaged left arm of Santana with an armbar. Santana fights free with a buckle bomb, followed by a sit-down powerbomb to score his second victory!
My Score: 3 out of 5
Match #5: Mike Santana def. Josh Alexander w/ The Northern Armory (DQ)
The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:
Josh Alexander makes his way to the ring for the final stage of the gauntlet. Icarus attacks Santana from behind, causing the disqualification. After the bell, The Northern Armory deliver a 3-on-1 assault to Mike Santana, culminating with a C4 Spike from Alexander. “The Walking Weapon” reclaims his headgear that Santana took from him at Final Resolution.
My Score: 3 out of 5
Match #6: The Rascalz (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz) def. The Good Hands (John Skyler & Jason Hotch)
The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:
Before The Rascalz challenge The Hardys for the TNA World Tag Team Championship at Genesis, they face off against The Good Hands tonight! Jason Hotch instigates interference from Trey Miguel, allowing The Good Hands to double team Wentz in the corner. Wentz creates an opening with a boot to the face of Skyler. Miguel enters the match with a burst of speed, spiking Hotch face-first into the canvas. Moments later, The Good Hands bounce back with Rolling Thunder on Wentz, followed by a top rope splash for two. The Rascalz put Skyler Away with Feed Em to the Lions for three.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Match #7: X-Division Championship – Moose def. Andrew Everett
The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:
Ace Austin is seen watching on from backstage. Everett uses his quickness to his advantage, taking out Moose with a slingshot dive to the outside. Moose catches Everett in mid-air and hits a thudding Chokeslam on the apron. Moose hits another high-impact move into the apron. Back in the ring, Moose puts him away with a powerbomb for three.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Match #8: Joe Hendry & Rhino def. Nic Nemeth & Ryan Nemeth
The following is courtesy of tnawrestling.com:
Before their highly-anticipated TNA World Title rematch at Genesis, Joe Hendry and Nic Nemeth are on opposing sides of tonight’s tag team main event! Call Your Shot trophy holder Frankie Kazarian joins Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt on commentary. Nic is in control as he wears Rhino down. Nic goes for the Famouser but Rhino counters into a sit-down powerbomb. Rhino makes the tag to Hendry, who goes on the attack. Hendry hits Ryan with an Attitude Adjustment, followed by a Fallaway Slam to Nic. Ryan fights off the Standing Ovation with a thumb to the eye of Hendry. Rhino hits the Gore on Ryan. Hendry clotheslines Nic over the top rope, before putting Ryan away with the Standing Ovation.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Final Verdict: 3.5/5
A solid episode of TNA this week and one that felt like an improvement over the first show of 2025. Good to see Joe Hendry in action – his profile feels like it’s wained since the NXT crossover stuff. As for the rest of the card, Steve Maclin kicked ass in the opener; whilst Mike Santana taking on a “gauntlet” of matches against the Northern Armory provided some great mid-show wrestling, something that isn’t usually the case for ANY promotion these days! Good stuff and hopefully a sign of even better things to come in 2025.
