‘WWE Smackdown’ Review (Nov 22nd 2024)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show…

Match #1: Chelsea Green def. Bianca Belair and Blair Davenport

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Bianca Belair and Chelsea Green traded pinfall attempts on Blair Davenport, but they both stopped each other from gaining the win. The EST was looking great until her tag team partner Jade Cargill was shown laying unconscious on top of a car in the backstage area. This compelled Belair to go help her partner, allowing Green to take advantage and pin Davenport after the Unprettier.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #2: United States Championship – LA Knight def. Santos Escobar

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

LA Knight once again put his United States Title on the line against a member of Legado del Fantasma, this time against the leader Santos Escobar. As The Megastar was watching a vignette from Shinsuke Nakamura, Escobar jumped him from behind, starting the match with a clear advantage. Just as Knight was about level Escobar with an elbow drop, Nakamura made his way to ringside to distract The Megastar. Escobar was close to hitting the Phantom Driver, but Knight countered it into the BFT to win the match and retain his title. As quick as Knight’s music started playing to signify his victory, however, Nakamura brutally attacked Knight and left the champion down.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #3: Montez Ford def. Tommaso Ciampa

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After costing The Street Profits a chance to win the WWE Tag Team Championship against Motor City Machine Guns last week, Tommaso Ciampa took on Montez Ford, who looked for retribution. Ciampa rocked Ford with a sickening knee strike, but as Ciampa went for the Fairytale Ending, Ford reversed the move into a jaw-dropping pinfall to win the match. After the bout, Ciampa attacked Ford before Angelo Dawkins and Johnny Gargano came down to assist their teammates. An irate Ciampa then shoved his partner to the floor before leaving alone.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2/5

Another mundane episode of Smackdown this week, making it more than four weeks in a row… At least this episode didn’t feature a squash match, though the official recap missed out the women’s tag match – so that says how little they thought of it! Completely skippable – just stick to clips if you must.
