‘WWE NXT’ Review (Sep 17th 2024)
Welcome to this week’s review of NXT, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down in this episode…

Match #1: Lyra Valkyria & Tatum Paxley def. Wendy Choo & Rosemary
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Former NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria’s return to NXT was a successful one as she helped Tatum Paxley take down the evil team of Wendy Choo and TNA’s Rosemary. The teamwork of Valkyria and Paxley was on full display as they used impeccable tag team maneuvers to gain control, including a stereo dropkick through the ropes. Rosemary and Choo regained the advantage thanks to well-timed kick from the NXT Superstar, but Paxley persevered and refused to give in on behalf of her team. The longtime friends rallied in a huge way with Valkyria hitting a Diving Leg Drop from the top rope to win the match.
My Score: 3 out of 5
Match #2: Hammerstone def. Tony D’Angelo (Count-out)
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The Don of NXT is in a bad state of mind highlighted by his decision to walk away from his match against TNA’s Hammerstone. Since losing to NXT North American Champion Oba Femi at No Mercy, Tony D’Angelo has struggled to get back on track, and at the first sight of adversity, he decided he wasn’t ready to compete and walked off with the rest of The Family left stunned.
My Score: 0 out of 5
Match #3: Eddy Thorpe def. Ashante Thee Adonis
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Eddy Thorpe scored another major victory on his quest to rise up the NXT ranks, this time defeating Ashante Thee Adonis. Before the bell could even ring, Adonis jumped Thorpe in the corner, leading to a quick melee with the referee having to get control. Once the match began, both Superstars showed out, with Adonis hitting a huge twisting splash to the outside before getting caught with an Impaler DDT that delivered Thorpe the win.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #4: Je’Von Evans & Cedric Alexander def. No Quarter Catch Crew
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Evans and Alexander looked incredible together, using their supreme speed advantage to keep both Borne and Heights off-balance. The mat skills of No Quarter Catch Crew finally caught up to The Young OG as Borne and Heights weighed on him, but everything soon fell apart for NQCC. Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan went after Wren Sinclair after she slapped her backstage, leading to chaos that allowed Alexander and Evans to get the win.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Match #5: Brooks Jensen def. Dion Lennox
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
With Shawn Spears in his corner, Brooks Jensen picked up another win, this time against the upstart Dion Lennox. Jensen dominated early with a huge spinning heel kick, but he enraged Lennox putting on his glasses, leading to a furious comeback. Spears distracted Lennox long enough for Jensen to nail a DDT, securing his win and solidifying this new pairing in NXT.
My Score: 0 out of 5
Match #6: Lola Vice def. Jacy Jayne
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Fatal Influence has dominated NXT since forming, but Lola Vice scored a huge victory by defeating Jacy Jayne in singles action. Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx attempted to get involved, but Vice escaped their grasp and hit a huge Spinning Backfist to win the match. Fatal Influence jumped Vice after the match, prompting Jaida Parker to hit the scene and chase them off.
My Score: 0 out of 5
Final Verdict: 2.5/5
A bit of a comedown from recent episodes of NXT, this week’s show suffered from too many squash matches and/or matches that only existed to further stories rather than be ACTUAL MATCHES! We did get two great matches, both of the tag variety – the opening women’s tag match and the mid-show match featuring the team of Evans and Alexander – who make for a fantastic combo IMHO. Probably worth catching those matches on youTube/social media and avoiding the mundane rest.
