‘Friday Night Smackdown’ Review (May 10th 2024)
Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Queen of the Ring Tournament Match – Nia Jax def. Naomi
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In a hard-fought matchup, Nia Jax reigned supreme over Naomi with the Annihilator to earn her place in the Quarterfinals of the Queen of the Ring Tournament.
My Score: 1.5 out of 5
Match #2: King of the Ring Tournament Match – Carmelo Hayes def. Baron Corbin
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Although it looked as if Baron Corbin might have Carmelo Hayes on the ropes, Him found an opening and locked in the small package out of nowhere for the quick win. The victory allowed Hayes to advance to the Quarterfinals of the King of the Ring Tournament, a match presented by MAX.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #3: Queen of the Ring Tournament Match – Jade Cargill def. Piper Niven
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Withstanding a Chelsea Green disruption on the apron and an earth-shattering cannonball in the corner, Jade Cargill lifted Piper Niven to execute Jaded and advance to the Quarterfinals of the Queen of the Ring Tournament.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #4: Queen of the Ring Tournament Match – Bianca Belair def. Candice LeRae
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Although Candice LeRae fully capitalized on her partner Indi Hartwell injuring Bianca Belair’s knee, The EST of WWE battled back to overcome The Poison Pixie with the K.O.D. and earn a place in the Queen of the Ring Quarterfinals.
My Score: 2 out of 5
Match #5: King of the Ring Tournament Match – Tama Tonga def. Angelo Dawkins
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
With Bobby Lashey not medically cleared to compete, Angelo Dawkins stepped in to battle Tama Tonga in the first round of the King of the Ring Tournament. When order broke down, Solo Sikoa and Tonga Loa took advantage of the chaos and unleashed a 2-on-1 beatdown on Montez Ford. The distraction allowed Tama to drive Dawkins into the canvas to pick up the victory and advance to the quarterfinals.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #6: King of the Ring Tournament Match – Randy Orton def. AJ Styles
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In a main event where both Superstars left everything on the canvas, Randy Orton evaded the Phenomenal Forearm by grabbing the rope at the last second. As AJ Styles regrouped, The Viper hit the RKO out of nowhere to triumph and move on to the Quarterfinals of the King of the Ring Tournament.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Final Verdict: 3/5
What planet are we living on right now? This week’s episode of TNA was chock-full of promos etc., whilst this week’s Smackdown concentrated solely on wrestling. With only one promo to open the show, setting up the Cody/Logan match at King of the Ring but other than that this was wrestling front and centre. Though that wrestling did vary in quality, at least this show was all about the wrestling. Plus, we got a great main event to close the show, sending the audience and viewers off on a high. A surprising week for Smackdowm.
