‘Friday Night Smackdown’ Review (May 3rd 2024)
Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Bianca Belair, Bayley, Naomi & Jade Cargill def. Asuka, Kairi Sane, Dakota Kai and Tiffany Stratton
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
A flurry of offense culminated with Bianca Belair hitting Dakota Kai with the K.O.D. to pick up the victory for her team. Although issues between The EST of WWE and Bayley were still evident, the showdown was an exciting prelude to the WWE Women’s Title Triple Threat Match and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match at Backlash France.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #2: Authors of Pain def. New Catch Republic
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Interference by Scarlett allowed Karrion Kross to take out Tyler Bate at ringside and paved the way for Akam and Rezar to pick up the controversial win over Pete Dunne.
My Score: 2 out of 5
Match #3: LA Knight def. Angel
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
With all of Lyon behind him, LA Knight overcame Angel with BFT.
My Score: 2 out of 5
Match #4: A-Town Down Under def. The Street Profits
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Tending to a downed Montez Ford, the official failed to see Grayson Waller hit Angelo Dawkins with the Flatliner as the challenger was attempting to pin Austin Theory. This allowed A-Town Down Under to steal the victory and retain their titles.
My Score: 2 out of 5
Final Verdict: 2.5/5
Well that wasn’t a great episode of Smackdown was it? I get that this was really building towards Backlash rather than presenting “stand-alone” action but what action we did get felt more like a sub-par “live” show that the company does on tours. You know the kind of shows where the storytelling takes a back seat to just presenting wrestlers the audience will cheer for, with results that have zero bearing on anything going forward. Meh.
