‘Impact Wrestling’ Review (May 19th 2022)
Welcome to this week’s review of Impact Wrestling, which this week opens with a Before the Impact match that saw Crazzy Steve defeat Zicky Dice. With that out of the way let’s get right into the main show…

Match #1: Ultimate X Qualifying Match – Mike Bailey def. Laredo Kid
The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:
The winner of this match will punch their ticket to Slammiversary where Ace Austin will defend his X-Division Title in the returning Ultimate X match! Bailey avoids a dive from Laredo, then delivers a pump kick on the floor. Laredo turns the tide with a springboard Moonsault to the outside. Laredo plants Bailey on his face, then connects with two springboard Moonsaults in the corner. This time it’s Bailey who soars off the top with a missile dropkick. Bailey hits a twisting Shooting Star for two. Laredo counters Ultimo Weapon into a rollup for a near fall of his own. Bailey hits a pinpoint kick to the head, then traps Laredo in a pinning predicament to score the victory!
My Score: 3 out of 5
Match #2: Taya Valkyrie, Mia Yim & Jordynne Grace def. Tasha Steelz, Savannah Evans & Deonna Purrazzo
The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:
Momentum is up for grabs as Mia Yim makes her IMPACT in-ring return! Champions square off in the opening moments as Valkyrie hits a modified Blue Thunder Bomb on Steelz. Grace continues the assault with a delayed vertical jackhammer. Evans baits Valkyrie and Yim into the ring, causing a distraction which allows Evans to blindside Grace. Moments later, Grace hits a swinging slam on Steelz to create separation. Yim enters the match with a burst of speed and plants Steelz with a sitdown powerbomb. The match begins to break down as everyone gets involved. Valkyrie hits Pandemonium on Evans, followed by Eat Defeat from Yim to score the victory!
My Score: 3 out of 5
Match #3: The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows & Karl Anderson) def. The OGK (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett)
The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:
The war between Honor No More and Bullet Club rages on as Maria Kanellis joins Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt on commentary for this tag team grudge match! Gallows takes Taven off his feet with a thunderous running clothesline. Bennett makes the blind tag, allowing him and Taven to hit Anderson with a flapjack on the ropes. Bennett adds insults to injury as he runs the ropes only to deliver a closed fist to the face of Anderson. Moments later, Anderson hits a Spinebuster on Bennett to create separation and make the tag to Gallows. The pace quickens as Gallows goes on the attack, hitting Taven with a pump-handle slam. Taven comes back with a springboard Moonsault on Gallows for two. Bennett inadvertently superkicks his own partner, allowing The Good Brothers to connect with a double team suplex. Anderson goes for the pin but Kanellis leaves commentary and provides a distraction on the apron. Anderson sidesteps an incoming Bennett, causing him to spear his own wife. Anderson takes him out with the Gun Stun for three!
My Score: 3 out of 5
Match #4: Masha Slamovich def Shawna Reed
The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:
Masha Slamovich looks to continue her dominance as she goes one-on-one with IMPACT newcomer Shawna Reed. The bell rings and Slamovich immediately charges towards her opponent. Slamovich has her beat following a running boot in the corner but opts to do more damage. Slamovich connects with the Snowplow to pick up another impressive victory!
My Score: 1 out of 5
Match #5: IMPACT World Tag Team Championship – The Briscoes (Mark & Jay Briscoe) def. Violent By Design (Joe Doering & Deaner)
The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:
The IMPACT World Tag Team Titles are on the line as The Briscoes defend their titles against the team they dethroned at Under Siege, Violent By Design! Mark launches himself off the apron, hitting Deaner with a neckbreaker on the floor. In the ring, Doering regains control with a massive crossbody to Jay. Deaner distracts the referee, allowing Young to illegally attack Jay from the outside. Jay uses his quickness to break free of the assault and make the tag to Mark. The pace quickens as Mark sends Doering to the floor with an Enzuigiri. Mark soars through the air, colliding with Doering on the outside. The Briscoes hit Deaner with a double team powerbomb for a very close near fall. Violent By Design isolates Jay as Deaner connects with a top rope headbutt for two. While Doering tussles with Mark on the top rope, Jay rolls up Deaner to score the three count!
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Final Verdict: 3.5/5
Well, what can I say, apart from the Masha Slamovich squash match this was a solid, dependable episode of Impact with a bevvy of matches all delivering great action. A tad too promo heavy this week but that’s what happens when you’re building to the next PPV/Impact Plus show AND having to start new storylines too. Otherwise this was another winning week for Impact.
