2 Hammer Classics, 1 Bloody Good April: ‘Demons of the Mind’ & ‘Blood from the Mummy’s Tomb’ hit 4K

by Phil Wheat

Hammer horror fans are being seriously spoiled this April, as STUDIOCANAL digs deep into the studio’s vaults for not one, but two lavish worldwide 4K UHD debuts. Landing on 6th April 2026, both Demons of the Mind and Blood from the Mummy’s Tomb arrive as fully-loaded Collector’s Editions, complete with brand new Dolby Vision restorations, striking new artwork, and enough extras to keep even the most obsessive Hammer completist happy.

Often cited as one of Hammer’s most ambitious and unfairly sidelined productions, Demons of the Mind finally gets its moment in the spotlight. Directed by Peter Sykes and scripted by Christopher Wickling, the film is now rightly being reappraised as a major piece of British Gothic folk horror, rather than the neglected oddity it became following its troubled release in the early ’70s. The cast is stacked with British screen royalty, including Robert Hardy, Shane Briant, Yvonne Mitchell, Paul Jones, Michael Hordern, and A Clockwork Orange alumni Gillian Hills and Patrick Magee. Shot by Arthur Grant, the film’s unsettling beauty has aged incredibly well, and this new 4K presentation promises to underline why some regard it as one of Hammer’s boldest psychological horrors.

Meanwhile, Blood from the Mummy’s Tomb brings ancient Egyptian terror to life in equally sumptuous fashion. Directed by Seth Holt and based on Bram Stoker’s novel, the 1971 film pairs an eerie atmosphere with striking production design by Arthur Grant and Scott MacGregor. The cast includes Andrew Keir, James Villiers, and Valerie Leon in a dual role that remains one of Hammer’s most memorable performances. Long praised by genre critics as a standout entry in Hammer’s mummy cycle, the film combines gruesome set-pieces, occult intrigue, and a haunting score by Tristram Cary.

Both films arrive as Collector’s Editions featuring the films on 4K UHD and Blu-ray, brand-new artwork by Johnny Dombrowski, two posters, and 64-page booklets packed with new essays and original press materials. Each release also boasts a wealth of newly produced extras, including in-depth looks at the productions’ histories and, in the case of Demons of the Mind, an archival commentary with director Peter Sykes and screenwriter Christopher Wickling.
