‘NCIS: The Twenty-Second Season’ DVD Review

Television shows rarely last longer than 10 seasons. In fact, most barely last 3. For years and years, no one thought that any show would top Gunsmoke‘s 20-season run on the air. But recently we have seen that record come to an end with shows like The Simpsons (36 seasons), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (26 seasons), Law & Order (24 seasons), Family Guy (23 seasons) and NCIS (22 Seasons).
NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service)recently completed its 22nd season on the air. This was an epic accomplishment as the show surpassed Gunsmoke‘s record for longest-running scripted primetime television series to air on CBS. Now it is time for that epic season to receive its home video release.
NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) is more than just an action drama. With liberal doses of humor, it’s a show that focuses on the sometimes complex and always amusing dynamics of a team forced to work together in high-stress situations. NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, a former Marine gunnery sergeant whose skills as an investigator are unmatched, leads this troupe of colorful personalities. Gibbs, a man of few words, only needs a look to explain it all.
The latest season of NCIS continues the drama and humour that we have all learned to love. But there is no denying that after 22 years on the air, the show is starting to show its age. The episodes feel familiar and even routine. But by no means does that mean these episodes aren’t still enjoyable to watch!
Season 22’s 20 episodes have been transferred across 5 DVDs. That is 4 episodes per disc. These episodes are presented in widescreen format, and the audio track an English 5.1 Dolby Digital. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. The transfer to disc of these episodes is crisp and clean. There are no digital artefacts or audio anomalies, and the colours are bright and vibrant. These episodes look spectacular on this physical media release. In addition to that, there are some cool bonus features included on this release.

For me, what makes the physical media releases a must-own is the bonus features. And while the 20 episodes are the main reason to get this release, the bonus featurettes take this release to a whole other level.
