‘WWE Raw’ Review (Jul 28th 2025)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to our review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly! Let’s see what went down on this week’s show…

Match #1: AJ Styles & The Kabuki Warriors def. Dominik Mysterio and Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Although Roxanne Perez put herself in danger by standing between AJ Styles and Dominik Mysterio, The Kabuki Warriors helped neutralize the Women’s Tag Team Champions and set up Styles to pins the Intercontinental Champion en route to their title match at SummerSlam.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #2: Sheamus def. Grayson Waller

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Sheamus knocked an interfering Rusev off the apron before defeating Grayson Waller with a Brogue Kick out of nowhere. After the bell, Rusev quickly attacked The Celtic Warrior with a shillelagh.

My Score: 0 out of 5

Match #3: Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, Stephanie Vaquer & Nikki Bella def. Naomi, Chelsea Green, Alba Fyre and Piper Niven

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

When order broke down in the Eight-Woman Tag Team Match, Rhea Ripley took out Piper Niven with Riptide and slapped Chelsea Green to pave the way for Stephanie Vaquer to pick up the victory with the SVB.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #4: World Tag Team Championship Match – Finn Bálor & JD McDonagh def. Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

El Grande Americano emerged to interfere, only to get neutralized by Dragon Lee. A second El Grande Americano emerged in a jumpsuit and helped Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh retain their World Tag Team Title against Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #5: Jey Uso def. Bronson Reed (DQ)

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

When Jey Uso’s match against Bronson Reed got cut short by a Bron Breakker Spear, Roman Reigns attempted to make to save. When Reigns and Uso went for a double Spear outside the ring, though, Breakker and Reed stopped them in their tracks and brutalized their SummerSlam opponents.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2.5/5

This week’s Raw felt surprisingly underwhelming, especially given it was the go-home show for SummerSlam. While the card featured big names and marquee match teases, the execution lacked urgency. Promos that should’ve ignited final hype instead felt recycled or overly scripted, and several matches came off more like filler than final chapter setups. The crowd seemed hot at times, but the show struggled to capitalize on the energy. Aside from the strong tag bouts (yes, both of them), there was little that screamed “must-see.” For a company heading into its second-biggest event of the year, this was a lukewarm send-off at best.
