Stars: Rigo Garay, Ella Rae Peck, Lorraine Farris, John Speredakos | Written by Chris Skotchdopole, Larry Fessenden, Rigo Garay | Directed by Chris Skotchdopole

With horror films nothing is off limits. The thing that seems the safest place can bring the biggest terror. Think of the shower scene in Psycho, swimming is such fun, until a shark is munching on your torso. And for all of us, home is our safe place, until it isn’t! Through cinema home invasion horror has terrified audiences. Films like The Last House on the Left, When a Stranger Calls, The Hand that Rocks the Cradle and The Strangers.
In 2024 there was a new home invasion film released called Crumb Catcher. This indie thriller really pushed genre boundaries, delivering a gripping experience. Arrow Video snatched up the rights for this indie darling and have given it a deluxe Blu-ray release that fans of this genre are going to just love.
After blacking out during his wedding night, Shane (Rigo Garay) and his new wife, Leah (Ella Rae Peck), head to a remote house for their honeymoon. Their plans to find wedded bliss are hampered when there is a knock at their door. It’s the waiter, John (John Speredakos), and the bartender, Rose (Lorraine Farris), from the reception blackmailing Shane for something he can’t remember doing. As tensions escalate, it soon emerges that the blackmailers don’t just want money. They’re after business partners for their invention, a revolutionary device called… The Crumb Catcher.
Crumb Catcher is a truly unforgettable, quirky and horrifying experience. The acting is spot on, with the performance of John Speredakos standing out as chilling and creepy in the most perfect way. Chris Skotchdopole wrote and directed a film that I am sure will go down in history and become a cult classic.
Arrow Video have transferred Crumb Catcher to Blu-ray in 1080p. The audio track is the original English 5.1 surround sound audio. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. Arrow Video’s Blu-ray transfer is razor sharp. The colours are perfect, and the audio is clean. Crumb Catcher looks amazing in HD! There are no signs of any digital artefacts or audio anomalies on this. But a sharp picture is not all this disc has going for it. Arrow Video added some great bonus features as well…

Chris Skotchdopole recorded an audio commentary for this release, and after all, who better to talk about this film than the writer and director? I love the addition of the making of featurette. Those are always a fun watch. And then for me, the best bonuses are the short films of Chris Skotchdopole. We get to see some of his early work, which is always cool!
***** 5/5
