‘WWE Raw’ Review (Apr 21st 2025)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to our review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly! Let’s see what went down on the now Netflix-broadcast show…

Match #1: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez def. Becky Lynch & Lyra Valkyria

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Becky Lynch and Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria put their newly won WWE Women’s Tag Team Title on the line against former champs Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. The two teams put on an awesome showcase for the WWE Universe, with huge powerbombs from the top rope and multiple jaw-dropping counters. Morgan caught Valkyria with the Oblivion to win back the title, making her and Rodriguez the first four-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #2: IYO SKY vs. Stephanie Vaquer (No Contest)

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The surprises on the Raw after WrestleMania 41 continued when NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer shockingly arrived to challenge Women’s World Champion IYO SKY in an impromptu non-title match. SKY and Vaquer collided in mid-air after they both went for a crossbody. Vaquer brought her signature style, landing the Devil’s Kiss on SKY. SKY sent shockwaves throughout the ring by hitting a Spanish Fly off the top rope. As Vaquer and SKY were putting on a show-stopper, Roxanne Perez and Giulia arrived to disrupt the match. Rhea Ripley soon appeared, however, saving SKY and Vaquer from Giulia and Perez.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #3: Intercontinental Championship – Dominik Mysterio def. Penta

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Dominik Mysterio defended his Intercontinental Title for the first time against Penta, with Finn Bálor and Carlito at ringside. As Penta was about to hit a top-rope move on Mysterio, JD McDonagh made his return to push Penta off. This allowed Mysterio nail the 619 and the frog splash to retain his title.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3/5

This week’s Raw delivered a story-heavy episode that prioritised drama over action, setting the stage for explosive feuds across 2025. John Cena’s championship celebration was cut short by a shocking RKO from Randy Orton, reigniting their legendary rivalry. Paul Heyman’s betrayal of Roman Reigns and CM Punk to align with Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker introduced a dangerous new faction. Becky Lynch stunned fans with a heel turn on Lyra Valkyria after losing the Women’s Tag Titles. Meanwhile, the seeming tension between Jey Uso and Sami Zayn hinted at future championship clashes. A pivotal episode full of twists that marked out this “Raw after Wrestlemania” as not to be missed!
