‘WWE Raw’ Review (Dec 23rd 2024)
Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly. We all hope you had a great Christmas and with that being said, let’s see what went down on this week’s show!
Match #1: Women’s Intercontinental Title Tournament Triple Threat – IYO SKY def. Natalya and Alba Fyre
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
After she and Alba Frye escaped Natalya’s double Sharpshooter, IYO SKY took to the air to take out her opponents at ringside. In a battle on the turnbuckle moments later, The Queen of Harts sent Fyre to the canvas with a German suplex. In doing so, though, she opened herself up to an Over the Moonsault by The Genius of the Sky that gave SKY the first-round victory and allowed her to advance in the Women’s Intercontinental Championship Tournament.
My Score: 2 out of 5
Match #2: Chad Gable def. Akira Tozawa
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
After numerous German surplexes, Chad Gable hit a powerbomb on Akira Tozawa before making his former pupil tap out to the Ankle Lock. When Gable chose not to break the excruciating maneuver after the bell, Otis entered the ring to aggressively put a stop to it. Alright Otis was ready to fight Gable, the head of American Made opted to hide behind The Creed Brothers and leave.
My Score: 0 out of 5
Match #3: Damian Priest def. “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio (DQ)
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
During his match against “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio, Damian Priest discovered JD McDonagh disguised as Santa Claus in the crowd as well as Carlito hiding under the ring. After Priest took out both, Finn Bálor attacked his former Judgment Day cohort to cause a disqualification. During the post-match assault on Priest, The War Raiders emerged to to even the odds, and Priest and the new World Tag Team Champions took down the dark faction.
My Score: 0 out of 5
Match #4: Dexter Lumis def. The Miz (DQ)
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
When Authors of Pain emerged at ringside as Dexter Lumis was climbing to the top rope in his match against The Miz, the monstrous Superstar leaped out at them. Moments later, Karrion Kross attacked Lumis to cause a disqualification. When The Final Testament and The A-Lister appeared to be closing in on Lumis, however, they were soon surrounded by The Wyatt Sicks. A brawl ensued, and although The Final Testament and Miz escaped the squared circle, they were soon taken out when Erick Rowan picked up Nikki Cross and launched her at them at ringside.
My Score: 0 out of 5
Match #5: Drew McIntyre def. Sami Zayn
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Although Sami Zayn gained the advantage in the final moments of a fierce main event, his injured back gave out at the wrong time and opened the door for Drew McIntyre to hit the Claymore Kick for the win.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Final Verdict: 2/5
What a shoddy show this week’s Raw turned out to be. A pre-tape featuring two disqualification matches both of which were squash matches as well AND we got a third squash match! This was honestly a one-match show, with only the main event truly delivering anything considerably interesting. Of course, why make the effort this close to Christmas when most of your audience is probably running around like headless chickens trying to get everything sorted for the holiday? Still, this was a hella disappointing show.
