‘WWE Raw’ Review (Oct 14th 2024)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill def. Damage CTRL

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

NXT Superstars Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson were at ringside to watch Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Title against Damage CTRL. Belair and Cargill looked to continue their incredible run, but IYO SKY and Kairi Sane proved to be tough competitors. SKY went for the Over the Moonsault, but Cargill pulled Belair to safety. With the referee’s back turned, Legend and Jackson attacked SKY at ringside, allowing Belair to hit SKY with the K.O.D. to win the match.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #2: World Tag Team Title No. 1 Contenders Tournament – The War Raiders def. Alpha Academy

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Erik and Ivar made an epic return after being unable to team for more than a year. The War Raiders were too much for Otis and Akira Tozawa, as they connected with the Fallout to take down Alpha Academy and move on in the World Tag Team Title No. 1 Contenders Tournament.

My Score: 0 out of 5

Match #3: Bron Breakker def. Kofi Kingston

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After last week’s assault from Bron Breakker on The New Day, Kofi Kingston took on the former Intercontinental Champion in a first-time matchup. Kingston subdued the unrelenting Breakker after Breakker went shoulder-first into the ring post. Kingston outfoxed Breakker, keeping him guessing and hitting the S.O.S., but it was not enough to keep Breakker down. Breakker leveled Kingston with a debilitating Spear to win the match.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #4: R-Truth def. The Miz

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

As The Miz and R-Truth were battling, The Final Testament came to ringside, taking The Awesome One’s eyes off his opponent and allowing R-Truth to roll up Miz and gain the win in shocking fashion. After the match, Karrion Kross threw R-Truth into the ring, leading to The Miz hitting the Skull-Crushing Finale on his former friend and partner.

My Score: 1.5 out of 5

Match #5: Rhea Ripley & Tiffany Stratton vs. Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez (No Contest)

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Ms. Money in the Bank Tiffany Stratton made her in-ring Raw debut as she teamed with Rhea Ripley to take on Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. Ripley and Stratton had communication issues early as Stratton tagged herself in when Ripley was about to duke it out with Rodriguez. The discord between the two continued as they argued at ringside before Rodriguez dropped Morgan right onto the two embittered Superstars. Rodriguez dismantled The Center of the Universe in dominant fashion until she finally tagged in Ripley. Ripley connected with the Riptide, but Rodriguez stopped Mami from getting the pinfall victory. As Ripley and Rodriguez were battering each other at ringside, WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax attacked both Superstars, forcing the referee to ring the bell. After the match, Jax leveled Morgan with an Annihilator, prompting Stratton to try to cash in on the Women’s World Champion. Unfortunately for Stratton, she was thwarted by “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio, who whisked Morgan to safety.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2.5/5

OK, so we got a shorter 2-hour Raw tonight but man did that not help the show. Come on WWE, this was worse than last week! We got an extra match this week, probably because this was a taped show, but that didn’t help proceedings. Outside of the first match – which was a GREAT women’s tag match by the way – the rest of this show was an unforgettable mess. Definitely one you can catch up on via clips rather than sitting through the whole show. Even if its now a shorter show!
