‘WWE Raw’ Review (Jul 1st 2024)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Xavier Woods def. Karrion Kross

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Moments after Xavier Woods picked up the quick victory over Karrion Kross, The Final Testament assaulted The New Day. After AOP took down Woods outside the ring, Kross locked Kofi Kingston in an excruciating submission and injured the former WWE Champion’s arm.

My Score: 1.5 out of 5

Match #2: Women’s World Title Match – Liv Morgan def. Zelina Vega

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Dominik Mysterio slid a chair to Zelina Vega in an attempt to cost Liv Morgan the Women’s World Title. Instead, Vega knocked “Dirty” Dom off the ring with it. Though the steel hit its mark, the distraction allowed an irate Liv to hit Oblivion on her LWO opponent for a successful title defense.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #3: Money in the Bank Qualifier Triple Threat Match – Zoey Stark def. Ivy Nile and Dakota Kai

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

In retaliation for Damage CTRL’s attack last week, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn neutralized an interfering Kairi Sane at ringside and paved the way for Zoey Stark to defeat Dakota Kai with Z-360 to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #4: Rey Mysterio def. Dominik Mysterio

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan emerged to help “Dirty” Dom overcome his father, Zelina Vega rushed down to even the odds. As the action continued, “Dirty” Dom climbed the top rope with his father in his sights. At that moment, Vega took down Morgan on the apron and the shaking of the ropes caused Dominik to drop down onto the top rope. Rey Mysterio quickly followed up on his estranged son’s misfortunes with a 619 in the corner and the Splash for the pin.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #5: Money in the Bank Qualifier Triple Threat Match – Drew McIntyre def. Sheamus and Ilja Dragunov

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Drew McIntyre emerged triumphant in an earth-shattering Triple Threat Match, disposing Ilja Dragunov outside the ring before blasting Sheamus with the Claymore Kick to earn his place in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

My Score: 4 out of 5

Final Verdict: /5

This week’s Raw felt like it was coasting along for a lit of its running time, outside of EVERYTHING related to the Wyatt Sick6, before finally hitting a high-note with the superb three-way main event match. What was odd was the way in which the matches – in particular the women’s title match and the Mysterio family battle – felt like they were being wasted on a bog-standard episode of Raw. No excitement, no fanfare, they were just there. Which is a crying shame.
