‘WWE Raw’ Review (Feb 26th 2024)
Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!
Match #1: Sami Zayn def. Shinsuke Nakamura
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
After Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Sami Zayn two weeks ago thanks to interference by Drew McIntyre, Zayn took a huge step in his quest to reclaim WrestleMania greatness when he overcame Nakamura with an earth-shattering Helluva Kick.
My Score: 3 out of 5
Match #2: Raquel Rodriguez def. Chelsea Green
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Roaring back from her loss at WWE Elimination Chamber, a fired-up Raquel Rodriguez shut down the outspoken Chelsea Green with a dominant showing that culminated in the Tahana Bomb.
My Score: 1.5 out of 5
Match #3: Imperium def. The New Day
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The Street Fight pitting Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods against their bitter adversaries Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci incorporated weapons such as Francesca the Trombone, tables, steel chairs, announce chairs, steel steps, drinks and punches flying through the crowd, Kendo sticks, and even Woods smashing Vinci through a table with an elbow drop from the top rope all the way down to ringside. In the final moments, Vinci pushed Kingston off the top and through another table on the outside. Moments later, Vinci smacked Woods with a metal pan before Kaiser drove him into a steel chair in the turnbuckle to pick up the victory.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Match #4: Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark def. Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark came into their match against Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell looking to prove that they should have been given a title opportunity against The Kabuki Warriors at WWE Elimination Chamber. The devastating duo claimed the win when Hartwell failed to see Baszler tag herself into the contest, and The Submission Magician surprised her by locking her in the haunting Kirifuda Clutch for the quick tapout.
My Score: 2 out of 5
Match #5: Nia Jax def. Liv Morgan (DQ)
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Nia Jax’s hard-fought match against Liv Morgan came to an abrupt end when a frenzied Becky Lynch suddenly charged into the ring and attacked The Irresistable Force in search of payback. Her attack on Jax ignited an out-of-control brawl between the two Superstars.
My Score: 1 out of 5
Match #6: Cody Rhodes def. Grayson Waller
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Two days after “The Grayson Waller Effect” turned volatile at WWE Elimination Chamber, Cody Rhodes overcame Waller with the Cross Rhodes in a hard-fought Raw main event. After the match, Rhodes rejected Paul Heyman when he warned him not the challenge The Rock, laying waste to the Special Council’s security force. As Raw concluded, Rhodes proclaimed, “The Bloodline is not hunting me! I am hunting The Bloodline!”
My Score: 1 out of 5
Final Verdict: 2.5/5
Good god this show was bad. Though kudos to Zyan, Nakamura, New Day and Imperium – all of whom saved this show from being a complete disaster and putting in the work when it seems the writers didn’t. Most of these matches were quasi-squash matches (a term I haven’t used since the days of AEW Dark and Elevation) that were either scuppered by the need to get to the storytelling – Becky Lynch interfering in Liv Morgan’s match, Waller literally being sacrificed to get to a Heyman promo, or just bad. But if you like promos and not wrestling then this episode is probably for you!
