‘WWE Raw’ Review (Oct 2nd 2023)
Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly… Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!
Match #1: Imperium (Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci) def. Alpha Academy
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Although Otis seemed to be dismantling Imperium’s one-sided offense, Giovanni Vinci grabbed the powerful Superstar’s leg as he had Kaiser up on the turnbuckle. The maneuver allowed Kaiser to crash down on top of Otis and set up Ludwig’s devastating enzuigiri kick for the three-count.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #2: “Big” Bronson Reed def. Cedric Alexander
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
“Big” Bronson Reed scored another big win against Cedric Alexander with the Tsunami.
My Score: 0 out of 5
Match #3: Xavier Woods def. Ivar
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Xavier Woods scored a quick victory over Ivar with the small package. Seconds later, Ivar launched a post-match attack on Woods and Kofi Kingston when the latter came to save his cohort. The vicious attack ended with a moonsault by The Viking Raiders’ big man!
My Score: 2.5 out of 5
Match #4: Tegan Nox def. Chelsea Green
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
When Piper Niven got in position to help her fellow WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Chelsea Green against Tegan Nox, The Queen of Harts emerged to prevent interference and paved the way for Nox to get the win with the Shiniest Wizard.
My Score: 1 out of 5
Match #5: Drew McIntyre def. The Miz
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Drew McIntyre made a statement when he decided to deliberately ram The Miz’s face into the exposed turnbuckle before finishing him off with the Future Shock DDT. After the match, McIntyre admitted that he was no longer the same guy before mocking Cody Rhodes’ forgiveness of Jey Uso.
My Score: 1.5 out of 5
Match #6: Intercontinental Title Match – Gunther def. Tommaso Ciampa
The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
In an extremely hard-fought Intercontinental Title Match, Gunther overcame Tommaso Ciampa by hitting two Powerbombs and causing Ciampa to pass out in the sleeper. When Imperium launched a 3-on-1 attack on the defeated Superstar, Johnny Gargano suddenly emerged on Raw to help Ciampa fight off Imperium!
My Score: 3.5 out of 5
Final Verdict: 2.5/5
A decidedly average episode of Raw this week that was redeemed by the final main event and the events that follow – the reteaming of DIY anyone? Otherwise, this was a remarkably throwaway show. Hell, even Drew McIntyre didn’t have a great outing this week – though I am invested in what looks to be a heel turn for the Scottish superstar. This is one episode of Raw you could probably watch as clips on social media and YouTube. Skip watching all 3 hours unless you’re suffering from insomnia!
