‘WWE Raw’ Review (Jun 26th 2023)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly… Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!

Match #1: Ricochet def. Shinsuke Nakamura

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After Ricochet and Shinsuke Nakamura worked together to neutralize Bronson Reed and get him expelled from ringside early in the matchup, The One and Only overcame The King of Strong Style in a hard-fought matchup with the Shooting Star Press. For Ricochet, it was an enormous win ahead of Saturday’s life-changing Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #2: Ronda Rousey def. Raquel Rodriguez

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Days before the highly anticipated tandem title showdown at WWE Money in the Bank, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Ronda Rousey battled Raquel Rodriguez. In the final moments, Liv Morgan got into a brawl with Shayna Baszler outside the ring. In doing so, she inadvertently distracted Raquel and opened the door for The Rowdy One to capture the important victory with a takedown pinning combination.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #3: Dominik Mysterio def. Akira Tozawa

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Dominik Mysterio attempted to show Cody Rhodes a bit about hard times when he overcame Akira Tozawa with the Frog Splash just five days before battling The American Nightmare at WWE Money in the Bank.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #4: Gunther def. Sami Zayn

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Prior to his highly personal matchup against Matt Riddle at WWE Money in the Bank, Intercontinental Champion Gunther took on WWE Unified Tag Team Champion Sami Zayn in an extremely hard-fought matchup. When order completely broke down, Ludwig Kaiser distracted the official. As he did, an injured Giovanni Vinci nailed Zayn with his crutches and paved the way for The Ring General to pick up the win with the Powerbomb.

My Score: 3.5 out of 5

Match #5: Finn Bálor def. Carmelo Hayes

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After Carmelo Hayes grabbed a chair from Finn Bálor in order to save Seth “Freakin” Rollins earlier in the night, The Judgment Day Superstar came back to overcome the hard-fought effort by the NXT Champion when he hit the Coup De Grace. The Prince claimed a huge win heading into his World Heavyweight Title Match against the Visionary at WWE Money in the Bank .

My Score: 3 out of 5

Match #6: Cody Rhodes def. Damian Priest

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Poised to face the “scared little boy” Dominik Mysterio at WWE Money in the Bank, Cody Rhodes overcame interference from “Dirty Dom” and SmackDown Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley to reign supreme over The Judgment Day’s Damian Priest with the Cross Rhodes in the Raw’s main event. Despite a cheap shot by Dominik after the bell, there will be nowhere for him to hide from The American Nightmare this Saturday at the O2 Anera in London.

My Score: 3 out of 5

Final Verdict: 3/5

What an improvement over last week’s episode! I could’ve done without the second and third matches on the card, which brought down the overall quality of the show but given that VInce apparently has fingers in the proverbial WWE pie once again this worked out for the best. At least Carmelo Hayes got a better debut than Ciampa’s return was last week!
