‘WWE Raw’ Review (Mar 6th 2023)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly… We’re apparently on the road to Wrestlemania so let’s get into it!

Match #1: Kevin Owens def. Solo Sikoa (DQ)

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Realizing he must carry out the serious directive of Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso attacked Kevin Owens in the height of KO’s match against Solo Sikoa and brought a sudden end to the contest by disqualification. The 2-on-1 beat down by Jimmy and Solo continued outside the ring and onto the announce table until Sami Zayn emerged and unleashed a wild onslaught to save Owens. Nevertheless, when Sami extended his hand to help his one-time friend up, Owens once again denied him.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #2: Bianca Belair def. Carmella

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Following a sneak attack by Carmella against both Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair and her WrestleMania challenger, Asuka, last week, The EST of WWE hurled a disruptive Chelsea Green over the ring barricade before picking up the victory over The Princess of Staten Island with the K.O.D. When Carmella and Green launched a post-match attack on the titleholder, Asuka emerged and spit blue mist at Chelsea Green to save The EST of WWE as Carmella heads for the hills.

My Score: 1.5 out of 5

Match #3: Omos def. Dolph Ziggler

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

One week after Brock Lesnar accepted Omos’ challenge for a WrestleMania matchup, The Nigerian Giant overcame Dolph Ziggler by hurling him into the canvas in a match instigated by Mustafa Ali.

My Score: 1 out of 5

Match #4: Johnny Gargano def. Finn Bálor

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

In the final minutes of Finn Bálor’s hard-fought match against Johnny Gargano, Edge’s them music suddenly blared through the arena. In response, Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley charged up the ramp to meet The Rated-R Superstar. As they did, The Ultimate Opportunist emerged to interfere in the match and allowed Johnny Wrestling beat his adversary with the DDT.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #5: Piper Niven def. Nikki Cross

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Despite an aggressive attack from Nikki Cross before the bell even started, Piper Niven drove her opponent into the canvas to pick up the three-count.

My Score: 1 out of 5

Match #6: Chad Gable def. Baron Corbin

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

In a match initiated by Maximum Male Models, Alpha Academy’s Chad Gable reigned supreme over Baron Corbin by making his opponent tap-out to the ankle lock.

My Score: 1 out of 5

Match #7: Sami Zayn def. Jimmy Uso

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After Solo Sikoa was ejected from the high-stakes Raw main event pitting Jimmy Uso against Sami Zayn, Jey Uso suddenly reemerged though the crowd to stand on the announce table and watch the action. After Zayn picked up the quick pin fall, however, Jey Uso climbed in the ring and stood face-to-face with his uncertain brother. He then turned away from him, exited the ring and embraced Zayn! Just when it looked like he had chosen Sami, though, Jey blasted him with a superkick before throwing him into the ring. With Solo reemerging, the 3-on-1 onslaught continued on Zayn until Cody Rhodes charged in and The Bloodline backed off.

My Score: out of 5

Final Verdict: 2.5/5

The Sami Zayn / Kevin Owens / Bloodline story is the ONLY thing keeping Raw afloat right now and that was a Smackdown story that has bled across brands! Not even John Cena’s lengthy promo against Austin Theory is getting me excited for Wrestlemania. The only thing that is, is Logan Paul… and that’s something I thought I’d never say!
