‘WWE Raw’ Review (Feb 27th 2023)

by Phil Wheat

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly… We’re apparently on the road to Wrestlemania so let’s get into it!

Match #1: Jimmy Uso & Solo Sikoa def. The Street Profits

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

After the turbulent events of Friday’s SmackDown, Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion Jimmy Uso stood with Solo Sikoa to claim The Bloodline is as strong as ever without Jey Uso anywhere in sight. They were soon interrupted by The Street Profits, and it wasn’t long before the two tandems engaged in a pre-match brawl. In the subsequent matchup, The Street Profits used tag team precision against Jimmy. They didn’t realize, however, that Solo was actually the legal Superstar. After launching Ford off the top rope to the ringside floor, Sikoa blasted Dawkins with the Samoan Spike for the three-count. When Uso and Sikoa continued their attack after the bell, though, Kevin Owens emerged from nowhere to execute with a surprise sneak attack on them both.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #2: Cody Rhodes def. Chad Gable

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

The American Nightmare overcame Alpha Academy’s Chad Gable with Cross Rhodes to earn a huge win en route to his Undisputed WWE Universal Title Match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. Following his victory, The American Nightmare declared that he is happy Reigns will be on SmackDown on Friday because he will be too.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #3: Asuka def. Carmella

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Despite an explosive effort from Carmella, Asuka overcame The Princess of Staten Island en route to her Raw Women’s Title Match against Bianca Belair at WrestleMania. After her victory, The Empress of Tomorrow called out The EST of WWE. As they engaged each other, though, Carmella took the opportunity to launch a post-match sneak attack that took out both Superstars.

My Score: 2 out of 5

Match #4: Candice LeRae def. Piper Niven

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Prior to Candice LeRae’s match against Piper Niven, Nikki Cross wandered down to ringside to watch Candice in action and apparently cheer her on. When the intimidating Niven made the mistake of turning her attention off of her opponent to attack Cross and then admire her happy work back in the ring, The Poison Pixie took advantage and rolled up Piper for the quick win.

My Score: 1 out of 5

Match #5: Bobby Lashley def. Elias

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Rather than walk with Elias, Bobby Lashley stomped out any chance his opponent had in their one-on-one match with the help of the Hurt Lock. Despite The All Mighty making it clear after the match that he doesn’t play kids’ games, Bray Wyatt emerged on the TitanTron to sing “The Muscle Man Dance” and instantly get inside Bobby Lashley’s head.

My Score: 1 out of 5

Match #6: Johnny Gargano def. Otis

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Maximum Male Models’ interest in Otis brought them to ringside for his match against Johnny Gargano. Despite interference by the faction, Dexter Lumis emerged from the crowd to even the odds. This paved the way for Johnny Wrestling to overcome Otis with a devastating DDT.

My Score: 1 out of 5

Match #7: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – Becky Lynch & Lita def. Damage CTRL

The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

In a thrilling title main event showdown, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus suddenly emerged to help Becky Lynch and her longtime friend and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Lita even the odds with Bayley outside the ring. As The Man locked up Dakota Kai on the ring apron, Lita hit IYO SKY with the Twist of Fate and Litasault to conquer Damage CTRL and claim the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on The Road to WrestleMania!

My Score: 2 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2/5

I have no idea what the hell is going on with Raw right now, every week seems to be worse than the last. To say we’re on the road to Wrestlemania there was nothing here that got me a) excited or b) intrigued enough to even contemplate staying up till god knows how early in the morning here in the UK to watch the WWE’s biggest pay-per-view live this year!
