‘AEW Dark: Elevation – Episode 93’ Review

by Phil Wheat

Welcome back to another review of AEW Dark: Elevation, this week features a mere FIVE matches! We’ve got Tony Schiavone and Paul Wight on commentary, so let’s get into the review.

Match #1: Emi Sakura def. Danni Bee

My Thoughts: Danni Bee got a couple of moves in before Emi Sakura took control and proceeded to squash Bee thoroughly. Though it’s a credit to Bee that the audience were firmly behind her, even though she stood no chance!

My Score: 1 out of 5

Match #2: Matt Menard and Angelo Parker def. Warren Johnson and Zack Mason

My Thoughts: What the hell was this?! Bell rings, Menard and Paker get the pin. In LESS than thirty seconds!! Strong booking for a team that haven’t been booked anywhere near as strong as this since joining the JAS.

My Score: 1 out of 5

Match #3: Willow Nightingale def. Vertvixen

My Thoughts: Always love seeing Willow Nightingale in action and Vertvixen makes a welcome return to AEW too – I think the last time I saw her she was getting squashed by Masha Slamovich on Impact, so she at least got a chance to get in some offence in this match. A decent match for Elevation, especially given that it followed two quick squash matches!

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #4: Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta) def. Zack Clayton and Zane Valero

My Thoughts: Another competitive match, even if I did expect a squash match. Up-and-comer (and former reality star) Zack Clayton struggled a little here but still, this was a decent tag match. I really liked the ending of this one, with Clayton leaving his tag partner in disgust and then the Best Friends hugging him as consolation!

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Match #5: Ari Daivari and Varsity Athletes (Tony Nese and Josh Woods) def. Brandon Cutler and Chaos Project (Luther and Serpentico)

My Thoughts: Comedy match incoming! Now this was a surprise. Well, a part of this match was a surprise – uber serious Tony Nese and Josh Woods actually leant into the comedy stylings of Brandon Cutler and Serpentico and this match ended up being a lot of fun. I would’ve gone for more of a competitive main event and had this lower down the card but can’t complain with this for an Elevation closing match.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5

Final Verdict: 2.5/5
